Yeah, I accepted it. Very difficult offer to turn down, no? It's just crazy to realize that I've been thinking of law school tuition as this six figure sum...and now it's literally $0. I am very thankful right now. Now cost of living (including rounds at orientation or thereafter) is another matter entirely...GreatBraffsby wrote:Nice! Are you going to take it? That's great. Anyone who gets a Moritz probably has a lot of other solid offers from places like WashU, Vandy, Georgetown, Cornell, etc. so I had to ask. At least we won't have to pay NYC/DC/LA/Chicago rent prices.midwestfest wrote:Yeah, I accepted it. Very difficult offer to turn down, no? I was actually waitlisted at Georgetown--a bit surprising and humbling--and I didn't apply to any of the others you listed. I've lived in Columbus for ten years (undergrad and masters were at OSU too), and my family is split between here and Pittsburgh, so staying in the eastern Midwest was a very attractive option the whole cycle.GreatBraffsby wrote:That's great. Re: Ohio State c/o 2019 Applicants
I don't think it's professionally inappropriate. I put in applications in November and December, so when I still hadn't heard from a few schools by April 1st, I pretty much started treating it like a waitlist--and, surprise surprise, I did end up getting waitlisted at those schools I hadn't heard from. They need to maximize their class credentials, so they're sending out offers to the applicants at or above their 50th/75th percentiles, and while all those 50th/75th folks dilly dally with their options, the less competitive students are in a bit of limbo. Without a doubt it's no fun, but it's the nature of the game. It can feel a bit cruel to us, but that's going to happen at anybody's reach schools, whether it be Columbia, Ohio State, or American.WaitWaitDontSay wrote:I find this long drag for *Assumption ahead* a large amount of people, as professionally inappropriate. There is data, you just have to look at it. Check LST employment scores then compare these schools.raven1231 wrote:That's because those rankings are based off of three year old data. Rankings become more and more meaningless the further you go down the list. And for what it's worth I don't feel the need to justify anything just feel like some people are drinking the us news kool aid is all. As I said before both are great options for people looking to stay in Ohio with OSU having a slightly better placement rate. I just disagree with the claim that UC doesn't place in Columbus or Cleveland and that OSU places higher is Cincinnati, because there's absolutely zero data to support it.lawlawlaw22 wrote:Don't get mad haha I understand the desire to justify a hard decision in whatever way possible, but in reality, while US News Rankings don't mean everything and they don't indicate any individuals potential to succeed, a ranking difference of 30 doesn't just happen by chance. Cincy is a good school, and is climbing, but at the end of the day this isn't choosing between two schools ranked 3-4 spots apart. Also, if you look at other rankings Cincy drops to as low as 80. Hell, Cincy is only the third best law school in the state according to just about every ranking. If Cincy is free and OSU costs a ton more and you love Cincy, then that decision makes total sense to me. If they cost roughly the same for someone, that decision is just plain stupid. And yes, both are regional as most law schools are, but I know you don't actually think that a top 30 school with name recognition isn't a better option for most people than a top 60 school (at best) with very limited name recognition, you just want to believe it because you're emotionally tied to the city and want to make yourself feel better about the decision.raven1231 wrote:Again please show me the data that breaks it down by city? Cincinnati firms recognize the difference in the education, and don't much care that you live a little closer. I like OSU, and still am thinking about attending there but let's not get delusional.

Yeah there is data showing OSU has a higher employment rate, but nothing showing it does better in Cincinnati than UC. The data simply isn't broken down by city so these claims are based on assumptions.PSPSPSPS wrote:There is data, you just have to look at it. Should I expect to hear for better or for worse by the seat deposit deadline of May 1st? I submitted on the second week of February but my online status checker has not moved

To be honest, I'd expect a waitlist or rejection at this point. February is kinda late to apply unless your stats are crazy good for the school--what are your numbers?GoFlyers22 wrote:Should I expect to hear for better or for worse by the seat deposit deadline of May 1st? Ya I'm pretty much expecting WL/Rejection now. My LSAT's just above the 25th percentile and GPA is just below the 75th. Was thinking about sending a LOCI soon.midwestfest wrote:To be honest, I'd expect a waitlist or rejection at this point. Re: Ohio State c/o 2019 Applicants
I know this is well-worn advice on this website, but I'd wait a year and retake the LSAT. It's the number you can more easily change; GPA's pretty set in stone. Study like mad this summer, take the October 2016 test (which hopefully bumps you up a few points), and then reapply in November. Once schools start firming up their classes by January and February, a splitter's numbers (or reverse splitter's , in your case) can look a lot less attractive.GoFlyers22 wrote:Ya I'm pretty much expecting WL/Rejection now. same. I was thinking of sending a LOCI, but didn't know if that would help at this point. My app's been complete since January and no status checker update since. are LOCI's mainly for waitlists, or can you also send one if you haven't received any updates on your app status?GoFlyers22 wrote:Ya I'm pretty much expecting WL/Rejection now. I have the impression that LOCIs are more for waitlists. If you send one before the initial decision, you run the risk of appearing a bit like an impatient kid.MischiefManaged16 wrote:

Dad: We'll be there in about an hour.

Kid: I'd really like to be there, dad!
Dad: I know, buddy. But we're not there yet.
