I applied October 20th and went complete the 22nd. I've heard nothing from Emory at all, except that one "Applications Under Review" email we all got on February 18th that freaked everyone out. I started getting worried because I saw people with lower scores than me who applied later than I did, getting their acceptances with scholarship info while I still hadn't heard a peep. At this point it's been over 4.5 months, so I emailed admissions a week ago just to confirm that I'm still under review and they haven't responded. Is this just Emory's way and I'm being an overeager applicant, or do I have cause for concern?
*edit: there is a 161/3.79 this cycle, but that's the only one. Is your gpa 3.70 or 3.7x ?

Submitted in November but application went complete in January after the December LSAT score was released.marisacb1012 wrote:That is very good to know - good luck!!! Does anyone else think that Emory might be bringing up their 25th percentile LSAT this year?

What makes you think so? I wouldn't know because I got accepted before my Feb LSAT & my previous score was well below their 25th (don't judge me)Broozer80 wrote:Does anyone else think that Emory might be bringing up their 25th percentile LSAT this year?

So does Emory only offer travel vouchers to people staying in their campus hotel? I am planning to visit over SB and was hoping to get $300 or so to help with the cost of my hotel (it's an Atlanta Ramada). But at this rate who knows if I am even in or if they'll ever get back to me. This is painfully slow.

They don't offer travel vouchers at all as far as I know - they offer hotel accommodations at their hotel only, and just for ASW.MacDhubstep wrote:So does Emory only offer travel vouchers to people staying in their campus hotel? Thanks for the speedy reply. I think I'm gonna go ahead and withdraw my application. There isn't much point in waiting any longer and I don't think I'm getting in anyway (and don't care anymore).

I submitted 12/3, probably went complete within 3 days of that. 160, 3.77. Got in to Boston U and UMN no issue and with $$ to both. Really annoyed with Emory for being so slow and inefficient. Super dumb they don't offer travel vouchers. I've been holding out on Emory to use for negotiations with UMN and they're dragging their feet and making my chances for negotiation slimmer and slimmer with each day.

Has anyone successfully negotiated a scholarship? I have a pretty generous offer, but I'm trying to increase aid from Emory so I can leverage it against another offer.

A new LSAT score is a completely different ballgame than normal negotiation. I would let them know ASAP.AbbeyS wrote:From what I've seen on here, Emory doesn't budge on scholarship offers. A four point jump can be massive especially if it changes you from below their 25th percentile to between their 25th and 50th or from below their 50th to between their 50th and 75th or . . .AbbeyS wrote:It's not much of a jump but it's a 4-point difference. I would say something like:
I recently received some very exciting news! I received a score of x on the y LSAT. My previous high score was a z. Emory Law is one of my top choices for law school because of a, b, and c. However, I am very concerned with the cost of financing law school. I was wondering if Emory Law would be willing to reconsider my scholarship offer in light of the new LSAT score.

Does anyone know if there's a certain date Emory has guaranteed that we'd hear back by? It's the only school I'm waiting on so I haven't even started scholarship negiotiation with other schools because of it and I'm starting to get very frustrated lol.

I called them and asked the status of my application, and the lady told me that I can expect an answer by the end of the month.lawlaura3494 wrote:Does anyone know if there's a certain date Emory has guaranteed that we'd hear back by? That's comforting, considering there are schools we have to make a deposit for on similar timelines.MiamiHeat3 wrote:I called them and asked the status of my application, and the lady told me that I can expect an answer by the end of the month.lawlaura3494 wrote:Does anyone know if there's a certain date Emory has guaranteed that we'd hear back by? Is the deposit reimbursement thing just something Emory does or do other schools do it?

Re: Emory Law c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Hi TLS – this is Ethan Rosenzweig, the dean of admission, financial aid, and student life here at Emory Law. I wanted to provide an update on this admission cycle, and I appreciate your indulging my postings here from time-to-time:
Decision Notifications: It is my goal to communicate the remainder of our decisions within the week. I’ll also post here once all decisions have been sent.
Waitlists: We have two categories of waitlist this year: Priority Waitlist and Waitlist. We will accept students from both lists, and last year, we offered scholarships to those admitted from the priority waitlist. I am not sure how many students we will accept from the waitlists this year until I analyze our deposits.
I know the frustration of having to wait a little longer for an acceptance, and I sincerely appreciate your patience. If invited onto our waitlists, I hope you will register to remain on the list as this allows me an opportunity to find a space in the class for you. It’s a tough balance to enroll the appropriate class size, and the waitlists allow me the maximum chance to enroll those most interested in joining our community.
I anticipate offering acceptances from the waitlists beginning in late April and continuing through the first week of Orientation. Of course, if you have additional questions, simply send us a note at jdadmission(a)emory.edu.
This has been a tremendously fulfilling year reading your applications, and based on the caliber of students applying, I am excited about what the future holds for our community. Please let me know how I can be helpful in the process.
