I did! Ended up with 125K + 5K Dean's Award That being said, sounds like it wasn't necessary since other people got $$$ without the Need Access.YoungSimba wrote:For those receiving scholarships, did you submit Need Access?

Re: Vanderbilt University Law School c/o 2019 (2015-2016) Applicants
Hey all, the Dean's Scholarship and the Dean's Leadership Award are two different things. I got the Dean's Leadership Award as part of my scholarship package and know several other people who did as well. I can't see any pattern in the people that received them, so I can't really help on that front. But for those of you who got it, it definitely comes in handy for the summer. I did the Vanderbilt in Venice program for the first half of the summer. It covered essentially all of my tuition for that. I know other people who used it as a stipend to live on during the summer, when student loans have pretty much run out. Congrats to all you receiving scholarship offers! Just FYI, Vandy really doesn't negotiate. A lot of my classmates tried to negotiate during our cycle, and I haven't met a single one who was successful in that regard. But hey, there's a first time for everything, so if you feel moved to try, then give it a shot!MrBalloons wrote:This is definitely correct. I got it too and the email says this.mist4bison wrote:It's just a 5k award you get to help you with the summer between 1L and 2L. I got it, too.NotoriousRBGJr. wrote:Does anyone know what the dean's leadership award is/to whom it is typically given? It's included in my scholly and I'm curious about it
I'm guessing the ^ Dean's Scholarship ^ may be something different than the Dean's Leadership Award.

Just realized that Need Access might be the reason Vanderbilt's median 1L age is so low compared to other schools I was applying to. I'm 29, and I think there's a good chance Need Access completely screwed me over by stacking my income on top of both of my parents' income/assets, even though they're not going to be helping me at all.squidditch wrote:I did! Does that status checker ever change to show that you have gone under review?

I'm hoping not as well.. I check periodically, seems like a waste of time. Hoping for a decision from these guys soon.sjp200 wrote:I don't think so and I hope not at this pointphil0560 wrote:Does that status checker ever change to show that you have gone under review?

I know lfk43 said Vanderbilt doesn't negotiate, but can anyone else share their experience/thoughts on this?

My understanding is that it stays at complete until they reach a decision and then it will say decision mailed or decision rendered or something along those lines.phil0560 wrote:I'm hoping not as well.. I thought NA only required parents info if you're 26 & under, is that wrong?CJRpnw wrote:Just realized that Need Access might be the reason Vanderbilt's median 1L age is so low compared to other schools I was applying to. Yep. Need Access requires parent info regardless, I just went through this last night with getting my parents' tax information and all of their financial info. It's much more thorough than FAFSA was.HoosOnFirst wrote:I thought NA only required parents info if you're 26 & under, is that wrong?CJRpnw wrote:Just realized that Need Access might be the reason Vanderbilt's median 1L age is so low compared to other schools I was applying to. 1/24 complete, yet to hear anything. Although seeing how many people have been waiting longer puts me at ease a bit
