OP, can you create a new poll? Something along the lines of "what're the odds you'll be attending UF in the fall?"

Isn't the deadline for Fafsa passed? How do I know what school to apply the aid for and how much, when I am waiting to hear back from several schools?

You can list more than one school on the FAFSA. It's a blanket form for all schools, you aren't applying for a specific amount.FSUHopeful wrote:Isn't the deadline for Fafsa passed? How do I know what school to apply the aid for and how much, when I am waiting to hear back from several schools?

Email the school's financial aid office. The head of financial aid at UF last week said you can still submit your FAFSA, in fact, you have to. Each school will give you an award amount based on their COAFSUHopeful wrote:Kat1021 wrote:You can list more than one school on the FAFSA. The deadline has not passed. The "priority deadline" for need-based grants has passed which was March 15th. Otherwise you can still submit your fafsa and should not have a problem getting any loans or anything.FSUHopeful wrote:Kat1021 wrote:You can list more than one school on the FAFSA. I was officially put on the Waitlist on 3/24 and applied on 2/2. I have a 155 LSAT and 3.65 GPA. Guess it's time to start studying for the LSAT again and just hope for the best.
Btw, if I were to be accepted later, would that delay financial aid at all? I should have enough money to get up there, and pay all of the initial fees, but I'm worried about the time in which financial aid would kick in. I'm going to call the office on Monday, but I wanted to see if I could get some inside advice on how that process works.

I would call. Ms. Houghton seems EXTREMELY knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to financial aid. I'm just about certain she would know the answer.espmma wrote:I was officially put on the Waitlist on 3/24 and applied on 2/2. I have a 155 LSAT and 3.65 GPA. When in doubt, call admissions and ask for Grant Keener. As long as you have a 3.6 and 160 you should be good to go. Just be up front and honest about your other deadlines. Good luck!jollych01 wrote:Been in initial review since 3/21...app complete on 3/7. Anyone know if I can expect to hear anything anytime soon? My deposits for other schools are due 4/15

Hey! Just to follow up on his question... Is that frowned upon? I'm in the same position and would love to call it, but want to word it right and don't want to seem pushy! In same position regarding other deadlines, I'd give admissions office some time since UF deadline is April 1st, then there should be some movement

Has anyone received a scholarship for more than 75%. I was debating on negotiating for 100% scholarship but not sure if its worth the risk this late.

What's the risk? They're not going to yank your scholarship if you're respectful. Worst you'll get is a no.phigammlawyer wrote:Has anyone received a scholarship for more than 75%. I was debating on negotiating for 100% scholarship but not sure if its worth the risk this late.

I tried negotiating, but I was pretty much told that it was too late in the game.

Yeah, by this time they've probably already achieved the median's they were looking for, and may not feel compelled to offer a bunch more money.phdtraveler wrote:I tried negotiating, but I was pretty much told that it was too late in the game.

It really depends on you and your numbers. First, definitely be respectful. Second, be honest with yourself. Is UF Law your absolute #1 and would you attend without any scholarship money? If the answer is yes, then call and tell the school that. As long as your numbers are close or you have a unique background that is in high demand (like a registered Native American<<<--- this is a big one), it should really help. In addition to meeting the medians, admissions is also tasked with filling seats with students paying full tuition. Good luck!Mmdpvc wrote:Hey! Just to follow up on his question... If you deposited and are still not 100% sure can you withdraw before the June 1 deposit?

It depends on your reasoning. If you are withdrawing from UF to attend a law school that you were previously admitted to, then you basically began your legal career with a lie (not so great for the character & fitness portion of the Bar Application) by intentionally lying in reference to the above statement. If, however, you are withdrawing because you got admitted to a school you prefer that you had previously NOT been admitted to then you are fine.thelostweasley wrote:When you pay your security deposit, you are required to sign an enrollment form stating you have withdrawn all other applications at schools where you have been accepted. So if you're unsure and withdraw before June 1, it sounds like you'll end up with no choices unless you get accepted elsewhere after you pay or get into a school where you have been waitlisted.oldsport wrote:If you deposited and are still not 100% sure can you withdraw before the June 1 deposit?
Examples:
1. Admitted to FSU on March 15. Withdrew all applications to other law schools which you have been previously admitted AND paid seat deposit to UF on April 1. Admitted to Harvard May 1. Withdraw from UF and enroll at Harvard = OK
2. Admitted to FSU on March 15. Seat deposit to UF on April 1. Signed form stating you withdrew from other schools but didn't actually withdraw. Change your mind on May 1 and enroll at FSU = BAD.
Also, if the reason you are unsure is because you are unsure you want to go to law school at all then withdrawing is okay because it's not a candor violation. Also, if now is not the right time, you can always defer to next year.

Seems to be a typical step in the admissions process right before a decision is made. I was on hold for almost two months before I was offered a 75% scholly. I know of people who were on hold for a day then got dinged. Hang in there and best of luck.

Admitted today! I was placed on the waitlist on the 24th of march, brought my waitlist form in to the admissions office (i live way closer to the law school than a fax machine on campus) and was notified of my acceptance while in class. A lot of excitement to hold in during a two block.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
