My WL email today surprised me. Lots of people I knew had gotten in OOS with worse stats than me so I thought I at least had a good shot. Hope you get accepted!samwilwerding wrote:I'm in-state too, so I would like to think I won't be WL-ed either. Of course, I thought I was going to be accepted ED too but was held over for RD. So it wouldn't totally surprise me.soxnation654 wrote:One point below median LSAT and above 75th GPA seems like you'd get in to me--so no WL--but what do I know. I'm biased haha

No movement on mine when I first checked. I'm OOS and applied 10/11, accepted via call yesterdayblueberryoatmeal wrote:Congrats to the admits! Did those who have heard back from UT see any movement on the status checker? I'm horrible about checking mine anyway but still curious

BTW, we *should* hear back on scholarship money in January, if all goes well.

The DoA mentioned something along the lines of three weeks or so, if I recall correctly. Was still a little in shock, was not really expecting that call haha.James.K.Polk wrote:No movement for a few days on mine (out of state, accepted before Christmas).hammocklv06 wrote:No movement on mine when I first checked. Just a general inquiry about waitlists from anyone who might know: is it even possible to get admitted from a waitlist before the deadline for admitted students to accept? I'm just trying to get an idea of how to proceed from here. Is April the earliest it ever happens or do waitlist admits happen on a rolling basis like normal acceptances? Total newb here.

I'm an OOS applicant and was just offered an interview instead of a Why Texas essay. Does anyone have any experience with the interview? Is it just standard procedure for all OOS applicants or does the offer carry some weight? I'm excited and nervous!

Speaking for myself, but I suspect this is new. Regardless, I have some experience here. I can't speak to UT specifically, but on multiple occasions I have seen people get WL, then retook the LSAT, got a better score, asked the admissions committee to reevaluate, and were admitted soon after--which was before the deadline for admitted students to accept. So, it seems possible.

I've considered retaking, but ultimately decided it wasn't worth the risk. At that point I'm taking a huge risk for the possibility of a few more points, which I'm not convinced would make that much of a difference. My score isn't bad, just a bit lower than their median. At this point I'm guessing it's what's holding me back though because being in state and having good stats otherwise has me thinking it's my LSAT. I'm preparing a LOCI and would like to maybe try to get a phone meeting with someone on campus because a visit isn't an option unfortunately.soxnation654 wrote:I can't speak to UT specifically, but on multiple occasions I have seen people get WL, then retook the LSAT, got a better score, asked the admissions committee to reevaluate, and were admitted soon after--which was before the deadline for admitted students to accept. They only have to report your highest score, so they wouldn't have to report your score if it went lower. However, they would see your score--whether it went up or down.

They take the highest score, going down a few points will not impact your app. It's always best to retake unless you're positive you've scored your absolute best.Navyhornguy wrote:Even if my score goes down or stays the same?Hikikomorist wrote:There's no risk to retaking except the risk of losing a small amount of money.Navyhornguy wrote:I've considered retaking, but ultimately decided it wasn't worth the risk. Well it certainly won't hurt to prepare to take it again in June if I don't hear anything before then. Thanks for the advice everyone!Nagster5 wrote:They take the highest score, going down a few points will not impact your app. I was admitted off of the waitlist in February during the 2011-2012 cycle. But that was 4 years ago, so who knows. I'm sure it is different every year.Navyhornguy wrote:Nobody? Well hopefully admits who know they're not going to UT will be kind and withdraw. I've already done so with one school to put some good karma out there.emkay625 wrote:I was admitted off of the waitlist in February during the 2011-2012 cycle. But that was 4 years ago, so who knows. Got a big envelope from Texas Law in the mail today. Opened it excitedly and it was… an unsolicited admissions brochure.
That's cold, y'all.
