Does UT do a status checker like the rest of the schools? I got an email saying they received my application and it also said they couldn't give updates or something like that. Also I searched their site and couldn't find anything.

Does anyone know when we might start receiving news of scholarships or financial aid packages?

Edit: not a traditional status checker, and it takes a couple weeks to get it

I mean, technically, there is a status checker on: https://law.utexas.edu/admissionsPatriotP74 wrote:JuliusCaesar wrote:Does UT do a status checker like the rest of the schools? Nope, no status checker, once LSAC shows that they have sent the report to UT the file is considered "complete" and no updates until you receive an email or (hopefully) a phone call.

What..? There is certainly a status checker. I received an email with my login and everything. But they do not use the same online platform that most other law schools seem to use. Also, I got the email regarding this a few weeks after applying. So perhaps you haven't gotten the email yet?PatriotP74 wrote:JuliusCaesar wrote:Does UT do a status checker like the rest of the schools? He means there's nothing like "You're UR 1/2/3/etc." or "Decision Finalized" all with corresponding dates. The page just lets you know when you've gone complete and when you're admitted, if memory serves.Pikapika wrote:What..? There is certainly a status checker. Hmm, I received no log in only this email,
I interpreted it as no status checker, so if the log in comes weeks after then yes I have probably not received it yet haha my bad on that!Texas Law has received your application and has automatically requested your LSAC Law School Report. Please pay careful attention to your Activity Updates from LSAC. The Law School is unable to notify you when we receive your Law School Report, but your application file will be complete and ready for review once we receive the report.

I just checked, and the email with the link to the status page came with my EID. I got my email just over three weeks after submitting, and a couple days after going complete.
Edit: This is the email.

Has there been a typical day of the week that people have been getting acceptance phone calls? Just wondering if I should even get my hopes up for a Monday call.

Has anyone else received an interview request? I don't know if it's because I'm from out of state or due to my numbers. I'm a URM at the median lsat and very close to the gpa median, so I didn't think UT would be a longshot. Have any of you had an interview yet?

I think this may be new with the new dean of admissions, maybe current students can chime in but I do not think UT has typically done interviews!

I asked for an interview because I'm local, and they said no because they had too many applicants and it wouldn't be fair to the others. ??? What the heck?aoaoxo wrote:Has anyone else received an interview request? I don't know if it's because I'm from out of state or due to my numbers. From what I understand, UT rarely does interviews. They also apparently rarely ask "Why Texas" if you're in state.

My understanding is that if youre out of state they might ask you to interview. Because of the high in state requirement, it is a little more competitive for out of state people to be admitted. I read this somewhere in this thread I just don't remember how long ago.aoaoxo wrote:Has anyone else received an interview request? Got a waitlist email this morning. Was actually kind of surprised. Does anyone know if there are things I can submit to potentially get moved off of the waitlist? UT is definitely my top choice and I was feeling pretty good that my stats would get me there.

LOCI, but not immediately after being waitlisted.
ETA: Are you OOS? What are your stats? Are they good enough that you might have been a YP waitlist? If so, you might want to submit (or inquire about submitting) a "Why Texas?" so that they know you're a safer bet for yield than they might have been originally thinking.

Re: University of Texas c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
A number of reasons:Nagster5 wrote:Why not?BVest wrote:LOCI, but not immediately after being waitlisted.
They know you're currently interested from your submission of an application.
They just considered your app and WLed it. They're not going to reconsider it immediately.
They may view it as an automatic reaction to the WL and therefore discount it.
ETA: Some schools (I don't know about Texas) will only take one LOCI; if you send it now, then in Late March-June when they're actually looking at their WL to pull people off, they won't know if your 1/12/2016 letter saying you were still interested at that time means that you're still interested on April 12.
But see above RE Why Texas. If there's something about your app that indicates you're likely to go elsewhere and therefore the WL was likely YP (yield protect), adding a Why Texas to your file may be beneficial.
