I'm confused about the Berkeley-specific PS. I have no idea how I can add in a "Why Berkeley" portion without detracting from the rest of my PS. It seems like everyone says to do your Why Berkeley in your PS, though. Is it enough for my PS to be 4 pages, showing I obviously crafted it to Berkeley's standards, and then sending in a Why essay in addition?
That's my main issue with reworking my PS.
I think it would take a lot of work to make a "Why Berkeley" PS portion seem genuine and like it fit with the rest.
Take that with the fact that I'm not all that hype on Berkeley anyway and...
I'm pretty sure that they don't care about a 'Why Berkeley'. I remember reading that the school knows why you want to go there, because it's pretty sure it's the shit. I'll try to find the reference (Berkeley was one of my top picks last year when I applied, so I researched the bejesus out of it).

I agree. I like the bluntness, actually. It makes the advice seem more genuine, in my opinion.

So I have the application done, I'm just waiting for the fee waiver to come back to me (for military). Hopefully I can submit in the morning.

Is anyone writing essays for BLOS or GDP? I didn't even know that was a thing until I started the app today. My numbers are so bleh (GPA, no LSAT yet) that I'm not sure if it'll be worth it.

Wait, they want additional essays for BLOS? I feel like I re-read the directions like 832942893 times.
Maybe I read it wrong...I'm at work and half reviewing cases, half starting my berk app.

slippin_jimmy wrote: No, you're right:
Applicants who wish to be considered for the following scholarships must complete and submit their applications and associated materials no later than February 1 (with the exception of BLOS, which has a December 15 deadline). Please note that both the Berkeley Law Opportunity Scholarship (BLOS) and the Graduate Diversity Program (GDP) awards require an additional essay. You should submit the essay(s) in the Attachments Section of this application.
However, the scholarships page on LSAC doesn't indicate what the additional essay is.
I just kind of assumed it was about being a first generation student? I wonder if they have info on their website. Or if someone else has discussed this on TLs. I'll search after work and if I find anythign I'll post it.
