I will be attending ASW later this month . I remember seeing this question previously, but I can't seem to find it now. Does anyone know if Georgetown is providing financial assistance for travel expenses? Would it be unconventional / undesirable to inquire? Anyone heard of a precedent for this?

Hi. Just have a quick question. I understand that GULC promises to have a decision rendered within 3 weeks if you apply ED. Does this 3 weeks start as soon as the Status Check says "Application Received" or does it start once it says "Application Completed"? Thank you very much in advance!

ED decisions are taking a lot longer than three weeks. If you are into disappointment and self loathing, you can begin obsessively checking your mailbox around week five. If you are rational and level-headed, you can begin checking your mailbox between weeks 7-9. Good luck!Adcomm wrote:Hi. Just have a quick question. Sounds like a fancy waitlist. Anyone know of anyone getting in after receiving this:
Thank you for participating in our interview process for Georgetown University Law Center. Although the record you present is a strong one, the Committee on Admissions has chosen to postpone your final decision.
Each year, a large number of candidates submit applications to Georgetown Law early in the process. The high quality of this group makes the Committee's decisions extremely difficult. Please be aware that only a small number of early applicants have their applications held, and a number of those applicants in past years have subsequently been admitted.
Once we have a better sense of the entire applicant pool, the Committee on Admissions will review your application again. No additional information is necessary, and the Credential Assembly Service (CAS) will continue to send us updates, which we will add to your file. A final decision will be made no later than Friday, February 26, 2016.
On behalf of the Committee, we appreciate your patience and continued interest in Georgetown.

It's basically a hold on your application. What you should do is wait about a week or so and send in a LOCI (or why Georgetown) along with any other info that may help. It could be that they are now concentrating on people above both medians or considering splitters in another group. Just be patient and hopefulLaw2511 wrote:Sounds like a fancy waitlist. I got this today as well, which I was actually rather surprised by. It seems rather positive in its tone, but you know how administrator speak works. Im trying to think of it as a positive though since they didnt outright reject us. Fingers crossed though.

Got this on Friday as well. I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit surprised by this. Was expecting to get in with $$$. First word back from any school this cycle. Ughhh i hope that this isn't foreshadowing the rest of my cycle.cecrum wrote:Law2511 wrote:Wrong post lol. Yeah, a few have if you search other threads.Law2511 wrote:Very true. From what I found most people were notified on the last day, which was February 28 in some past years, and most if not all were on the WL or Preferred WL. I called GULC Friday and asked them directly what this email meant. Although I think most of us can guess... admissions told me "It's basically a deferment into the next applicant pool ~aka December LSAT takers~". She did say it was better than being WL as those people have received a definite "no" and are basically on reserve without a concrete date of whether or not they will be admitted. While those on hold have not received any decision and will have one by Feb. 26. I have seen some people who got accepted after receiving this email in past years, so I suppose there is hope. I applied non-ED LSAT >25th and GPA around 75th so I was pleasantly surprised to have not been WL.

So since I live overseas I won't be making it out for asw - but I'm in DC for a conference this week and arranged to visit a class (even though it's week one - they were very nice about it) and meet with an admissions officer...
on my way to the class I popped into admissions to say hi and thanks etc, and here's what I walked out with - would venture to guess that asw participants can expect at least the same:

Haha yeah. I linked it a few pages back to keep this thread mainly focused on the admissions timeline, but that 2019 forum doesn't get much foot traffic yet.ltbenn wrote:

Question for you folks:
I submitted my app to georgetown on the 4th, and my app has been marked "application received" ever since. Shouldnt it be completed by now? the message on the bottom of the status checker makes it sound like they might not update it very quickly.but im seeing alot of people on lsn with the same app dates getting marked complete. I have a letter of rec, lsat score, and transcript on file. Anyone know what's up? Or having the same concern?
Thank you
