They definitely award merit scholarships other than the Ruby. Not sure what the timeline looks like though. Maybe down current students who post here may remember from previous cycles?

Admits: Did it take a while for your admitted student package to arrive? Was lucky enough to be in the 2/4 admit wave but haven't gotten anything yet.
(I realize this isn't an incredibly long time to wait, but after never receiving another school's acceptance package, contacting them about it, requesting them to send another one, and finally getting the second packet in the mail ~1 month after my acceptance, I'm a little paranoid and think my mail might be broken).

2/4 admit as well and I haven't received my packet either. I was admitted to Berkeley the same day and got my packet Wednesday or Thursday. Considering I live on the East coast, I assumed I would get my packet from Chicago before Berkeley.EnderWiggin wrote:Admits: Did it take a while for your admitted student package to arrive? +1 No packet yet and same admit date. You're not alone.EnderWiggin wrote:Admits: Did it take a while for your admitted student package to arrive? Was lucky enough to be in the 2/4 admit wave but haven't gotten anything yet.

They seem to wait before sending them out. I was admitted 1/13 and the package wasn't postmarked until the last week of Jan/first week of Feb.SpikeSeagull wrote:There are dozens of us!jtg21 wrote:+1 No packet yet and same admit date. Does it have anything important in it this year? Last year it was a viewbook (nice, but nothing that wasn't also on the admitted students site).
One of their admissions people left in January (to be the chief of staff for Chicago's independent police review authority). Maybe that explains the delay.

During the interval between my interview (with that interviewer) and my acceptance, I sleuthed this bit of info out and began to kick myself as I realized that in response to one of my interview questions I had mentioned community policing to someone who was about to become, if they were not already, a bona fide expert on the topic.landshoes wrote:One of their admissions people left in January (to be the chief of staff for Chicago's independent police review authority). Thank goodness it wasn't a complete deal breaker

Aww! Annette Moore is really great, and probably liked that you cared about it, even if you aren't an expert.
You'll have this experience a lot if you come to U of C, because so many of our profs are experts, textbook authors, etc. You get used to it

Anyone else get a superstitious feeling based on what picture appears in their application email (the one that has a link to the status checker)?
I still go through the e-mail to access the link and it is always a different picture. Today was puppies…I took it as a positive sign.

So that 37 days in between interview and decision figure..anyone think it'll be shorter now that we're deeper into the cycle?

My application has been under review since Jan 16...and has been dead silent.
What do you think it means ?

Same. Went UR1 on Jan 31. I'm above 50th gpa and =75th LSAT, too. Heard back from a few schools I applied to after I applied to Chi. I don't understand it.easttowest921 wrote:My application has been under review since Jan 16...and has been dead silent.

It took me about a month and a half to get an interview request from UR1 (complete 12/8, UR1 12/20, request 2/5). I applied to Columbia and Chicago at the same time, and I got in to Columbia well before I heard a peep from Chicago. I had already done my JS1 interview before I got the interview request from Chicago.Topszn wrote:Me three, UR since 01/13 and heard nothingrfc180 wrote:Same. Went UR1 on Jan 31. Point being, relax. Chicago takes their time, and they do things in large waves (so if you missed one wave, you'll be waiting a while before the next one rolls out).
ETA: I should note that I was also getting paranoid about the wait time for my app until someone pointed out how Chicago's waves work. I don't mean the above "relax" to be condescending (because these are our futures we are worrying about, and I totally empathize with worrying about it and over-analyzing everything, because I did the same thing a few weeks ago). But really, you don't have anything to worry about right now.

I was admitted on 2/4 and just got it this morning. The postmark said 02/17. It's pretty nifty, but my letter got all mangled, as they didn't put it in anything and my letter carrier jammed it in my mailbox.Tycho wrote:They seem to wait before sending them out. Re: Chicago C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
To strengthen your point, I literally have the same dates as you for Chicago. I'm also pretty sure that no one ITT applied after us and got an earlier interview. We got our interview requests right after the last wave got their decisions. I think we may receive our decisions this Friday or Monday (it seems that decisions go out on the last day of interviews. When I went on the last day was 2/26th, but it seems like some ppl got interview requests a week or so after 2/05th and the last day for interviews was 2/29th so we'll see), so that probably when the next waves' interview requests will go out.Bearlyalive wrote:It took me about a month and a half to get an interview request from UR1 (complete 12/8, UR1 12/20, request 2/5). Curious to see if mine's like that too. I think it's common with some schools due to the packaging. Cardboard packaging is the way to go!EnderWiggin wrote:Came home to find mine like this as well, but I don't even care because it's HEEERE!SpikeSeagull wrote:Exact same.nacogdoches wrote: I was admitted on 2/4 and just got it this morning.
