There seems to be a few of us and no one knows why it's happening to us apparently. See previous page of this thread for conspiracy theories

I am not in your boat (I am in the held pile), but not hearing anything may not be the worst. If you haven't heard anything, that may mean that the adcoms are having a hard time comparing you to other applicants, which while not optimal is probably a better place to be then the sub-optimal comparable candidate.

Basically I am saying that the decoy effect (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decoy_effect) may be playing a role, but at least you aren't the asymmetrically dominated applicant.

My story is almost the same as yours, but I went complete 3 days before you and interviewed one day before. Still nothing.

New conspiracy: I'm starting to think that CLS is struggling with the email and mail merge game big time this year and maybe things aren't going out at the right time...Technology 1: CLS 0

Hello everyone

I see a lot of people saying that theyve recently been placed on reserve. Today about an hour ago, I received an email telling me that I have been placed on "Hold". Is this different from being placed on reserve? Also is it worst than being placed on reserve (I am assuming it is)? Thank you all and best of luck to you all.

This has been answered more extensively in this thread (use the search function), but the short and sweet is: it's almost certainly better than being put on reserve. reserve is more or less a typical waitlist. hold simply means they will take longer to render a decision about you. what percentage of hold applicants are admitted i do not know, but some TLSers with good numbers and acceptances at more highly ranked institutions were held.

I apologize for bringing up a subject that has already been answered. I am new to this site so I wasnt aware. I will be sure to look up information before I post. Thank you for the information as well. It cleared up my doubts.

That awful, heart-wrenching moment when you get an email from admissions with the subject "Welcome to 'My Columbia Law'" and think you were accepted until you see it's just an automated email confirming the account I just made.

I'm in a later version of this boat. I interviewed in early January but haven't heard anything since. It's good to know that this is a thing so I can maybe take a break from, uh, searching my own inbox a lot.

Yeah I'm >75%s and got a hold email. There are a very good number of people who I think are in the same boat who just had radio silence since complete then held. Don't know if it's YP or some different strategy.

What are your stats like? I'm also above 75s and waiting for a decision after completed interview last week.

It's not unreasonable that the Columbia hold can serve multiple purposes

For sure, but I haven't seen any pattern of YP so I'm trying to see if that's at play.

I think DrBlake is right, that there seem to be different reasons for holds.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
