JS1s nervously preparing for interviews, nonJS1s too sickened by the dichotomy between their dreams/reality to poast in a thread that reminds them of this fact.basedvulpes wrote:Man, this place went downhill overnight. What happened?

Interesting. So u may choose a different slot if u want to avoid a certain interviewer?barley wrote:Sooo when you sign up for a JS1 time, you'll see that each time slot has one interviewer listed. There are five different possibilities: HLS J.D. Interviewer, Harvard J.D. Admissions Interviewer, HLS Interviewer, HLS Admissions Interviewer, and Harvard J.D. Interviewer. Pretty positive that each one of those pseudonyms corresponds to a specific adcomm member! I saw in the thread last year that people were trying to analyze what it meant if they were interviewed by JS as opposed to someone else, but I think this confirms that it really just depends on the time slot you pick.
And once we JS1s start, we should be able to figure out which pseudonym is which person in case future interviewees have a preference.
I will be surprised if they had students conduct some of the interviews.

HLS 1L here- would be happy to answer any questions and such via PM. I guess this is also a good time to drop this link here:

I found it really helpful when I was preparing for my interview. Best of luck!

Might be a silly question, but how will I know when my application is "complete"? I just submitted on the LSAC website a few days ago and got confirmation that the order went through (the application shows up as "transmitted" on the LSAC website), but I don't have access to the tracker yet. When do I get access to the tracker - will I get an e-mail or should I keep checking the LSAC website?

Sorry if I'm being dense but how do I access the HLS tracker? It looks like I need a username and password.Hildegard15 wrote:Your tracker will change to complete before you get the email from Harvard saying it's complete. Any people with upcoming JS1s doing anything in particular to prepare? I haven't really done anything beyond read some of the most frequently asked questions and making sure that I have some sort of answer to them (why law, why Harvard, etc.)

Been doing the same sort of prep. It's weird because I feel like if I practice specific answers it'll come off inauthentic, but I definitely need to memorize the main points that I want to hit.QuentonCassidy wrote:Any people with upcoming JS1s doing anything in particular to prepare? Also, a major reason that Harvard is my number 1 choice (above Y or S for instance) is because my fiancee (will be my wife by the time I start LS) lives in Boston. What is TCR about mentioning that in response to why Harvard? Obviously I wouldn't make it a focal point, but should I even mention it? I can see arguments for both sides but unless convinced otherwise I probably won't just because it seems like the less risky option.
And yeah dude I think logistical stuff like where you're wife's going to be living is a legitimate reason to prefer Harvard over peer schools. Do you have a specific fear about what the downside of mentioning it would be?

Re: Harvard C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
For those of you prepping, what I did last year (for whatever it is worth) is I made a list of old questions that adcomms had asked. Then I just generally prepared for the topics/thematic groups I saw in the questions, as opposed to specific questions. I felt like that gave me a balance between being under prepped and sounding like a robot. But there is no rule here. Some people prepped each past question. Others went in (close to) cold.

Checking in after getting up slightly earlier today because I have my interview in two hours! I hope I won't be woefully ill-equipped, since I'm only starting to prep now...
Either way, I'll report back if there's anything interesting!
