Re: Yale c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I did the same. I felt that keeping it concise would be more helpful because I'd hope they'd look at the lists in conjunction with a resume, predominantly to assess both what we feel was most valuable to us, and to contextualize those activities with the amount of hours they took compared to the courses being taken/other commitments.gobears!! wrote:UGH I took the instructions literally from the activities section and literally just listed them out and didn't include details aside from the requested info. I submitted my resume which has everything on it....there goes my Yale Mary LOL

Re: Yale c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I'm sure there's going to be a ton of variety in what they receive for that category...they weren't particularly specific and I honestly doubt that they'll fault anyone for how they chose to respond in terms of general content and format so long as they got the specific information they explicitly asked for.gobears!! wrote: Thank god someone else did this!!! I felt the same exact way when I read the prompt. I can feel less crappy about it forsure haha.
They'll be too busy faulting us for other things anyways!

Every year we accept applicants with low numbers.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went on his way. As he was going down, his fellow TLSers met him and told him that his Yale Mary was possible. So he asked them the hour when they began to believe, and they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour."
Said applicant was rejected two days later

Hm, that's interesting how they group colleges to target.Hildegard15 wrote:Just got an invite to a Yale law webinar for women's college people they want me.
On a different (but related) topic, now taking new poll ideas. Come at me.

Reasons not to be bummed about your Yale rejection. I'm a little tired, but a couple options could be:salander wrote:Hm, that's interesting how they group colleges to target.Hildegard15 wrote:Just got an invite to a Yale law webinar for women's college people they want me.

F*** some old bastard's idea of prestige, I'd have taken the cash anyway
The only good things I've heard about New Haven are that it's not THAT dangerous and there's pizza
I've heard Skull and Bones is actually a group of cannibals
I'll gladly miss out on the circlejerk of academia that's been bred there
I'm not besmirching Yale's good name on these fora. Don't you know Asha reads this thread?
I'm getting into Yale dawg.
Or other, better options. Some of those are better than others.

Re: Yale c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Just submitted my Yale application. Thanks everyone who helped me with my materials.
I'll tell you what, I'm dreading having to make the decision between attending Stanford and Yale (which is totally happening, right everyone? ).

That's...actually sort of a depressing thought, because it would basically mean that I don't have a shot at either.pillowmon wrote:Dcc

Dcc617
The reason I said your chance for yls > sls:
You are a splitter in YHS. (over 75% LSAT, under 25% GPA)
Sls and hls are doing their best to compete with yls.
They found out they cannot compete both in LSAT and GPA.
sls chose GPA while hls LSAT to compete.
According to your numbers (say 176, 3.72),
your marginal value for sls is not great.(your score likely jack up LSAT for sls , but may pull down GPA --- against sls stratey.)
You are rather valuable in hls. (your score will jack up LSAT for hls and hls can hide your GPA-one of under25% GPA.)
yls is a rather black box. yls has more than enough highly qualified applicants, and thus, yls can chooses anybody (It seems yls doesn't care about the numbers, if an applicant appears promising.) I am assuming you are from the military. I found from 2018 yls profile, 4 applicants(Army) were accepted (4/200 = 2%). However, considering the number of applicants with military back ground, 4 out of x, where x = number of "military applicants", is very high probability and your numbers are not bad.
