Completely agree.basedvulpes wrote:And DC seems about 1000x more livable, but maybe that's must my tasteGenerally wrote:$160,000 in D.C is the same as $251,000 in Manhattan according to this http://money.cnn.com/calculator/pf/cost-of-living/theugg wrote:But DC is even more expensive.basedvulpes wrote:+1, would definitely opt for DC or a smaller city if ableGenerally wrote:Regardless of where I go to school though I have decided one thing, don't want NYC biglaw.
Point is, NYC is currently coming in very low on my list of possible destinations post law school. Your salary effectively doubles by choosing to go to most other cities, even if you're not quite making 160k. Higher standard of living beats preftige for me any day.

Ughhhh my undergrad letting me down one last time by not submitting my dean's certification.
I've asked them twice already and they're like "yeah, yeah, we'll do it." But they don't.

Ignorant but legitimate question: What schools require a dean's certification with your app?maracuya wrote:Ughhhh my undergrad letting me down one last time by not submitting my dean's certification.![]()

From T14, it's Columbia, NYU, Duke. Duke emailed me and said I could have the Dean/Office of the Dean email it to them, so I guess I'll call and beg them to do that today. I don't understand why university administrators refuse to do their jobs.. Or at least at my uni.

Some schools are after you're accepted, some schools are for C&F, and some are a combination of the two.Hildegard15 wrote:............I am assuming this is after you're accepted? Columbia, NYU, and Duke all require it (according to their applications) prior to acceptance. Duke emailed me requesting it, and NYU's app has a specific request on the application as well.fips tedora wrote:Some schools are after you're accepted, some schools are for C&F, and some are a combination of the two.Hildegard15 wrote:............I am assuming this is after you're accepted? Here's what Columbia's C&F question says:
1. Have you ever been on academic probation or subjected to disciplinary action for scholastic or other reasons by any college,
university, graduate school, or professional school you have attended? This should include matters that have been expunged. In
addition to attaching a written explanation in the "Attachments" section of the application, kindly have the Dean or administrative
officer in charge of student records forward a detailed explanation of the incident.

Re: c/o 2019 Applicant Compendium (2015 - 2016)
I haven't sent any in, and I thought that was only before enrolling that schools need them. Seems heaps of people of got into Duke without submitting one... I am thoroughly confused.maracuya wrote: Columbia, NYU, and Duke all require it (according to their applications) prior to acceptance. Edit: You didn't clarify, but clearly this is a c&f issue yes?
From Columbia,
Are there any instances in which I need to submit a dean’s certification with my initial application?
Yes. If you have been subject to disciplinary censure by any educational institution you attended or if there are any disciplinary charges pending against you, then you will need to submit a dean’s certification

We'll see how long that lasts though with SoCal being as bipolar as it is.
I'm in Dallas and here the weather here has been a constant 65 for the past two weeks.
