Sorry if I'm repeating a question I could answer through the search function, but was there any indication from the status checker or elsewhere that you'd get a response today?
Just went UR2 today, for the record.

No, actually, I was super confused since there hasn't been any movement on my status checker since 1/11 (not actually sure if I went UR2, I guess I must have but missed it?)AnonymousPython wrote:Congrats!!SpikeSeagull wrote:newrad wrote:There's a new #WhenPennLawCalled tweet up! Re: Penn c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I have a question about how the invitations to the named scholarships work at Penn. I was admitted to Penn late last week, and realized today that an invitation to write an essay for the Silverman-Rodin scholarship was sitting in my junk mail for the last couple of days (oops).
The S-R scholarship gives full tuition for the first year, but only half for the second year and a third for the last year. I really like Penn, but I was hoping for a Levy- I have a Hamilton at Columbia and a Vanderbuilt at NYU. So even if I get the S-R scholarship, it would be very unlikely I would take it (I'm pretty debt averse).
So my question is: has anyone been asked to write multiple essays or do they bin you into one before asking? Is there any hope of trying to negotiate up from an S-R to a Levy? If not, I may as well withdraw my application now sadly.

Email or call the admissions office and tell them you have been offered a Hamilton and you really want to go to Penn, but you would need a full scholarship to choose Penn, since you are debt averse.sophiethecat wrote:I have a question about how the invitations to the named scholarships work at Penn. Wow, right after I saw this post I checked my spam and sure enough there's a James Wilson scholarship invitation... Why is this ending up in spam?? So annoying!sophiethecat wrote:I have a question about how the invitations to the named scholarships work at Penn. Sorry to hear that! You are exactly right though: solid cost/benefit ratio with fee waiver

Guaranteed that I am being paranoid, but I was not very vigilant in checking my spam after I was admitted... If I missed something in there that would be a real bummerlemondrop wrote: Wow, right after I saw this post I checked my spam and sure enough there's a James Wilson scholarship invitation... Has anyone else noticed that what applicants are reporting about scholarships doesn't match the official info (https://www.law.upenn.edu/admissions/fi ... rships.php). For example, above someone says the SR also gives 1/3 tuition for the third year, but there's no mention of that on Penn's site, and the award range quoted in my invite for another scholarship is significantly higher than the official range.

I did notice that the Wilson range quoted on the website is less than what was said in the e-mail. I figured they just haven't updated their site in a while.RZ5646 wrote:Has anyone else noticed that what applicants are reporting about scholarships doesn't match the official info (https://www.law.upenn.edu/admissions/fi ... rships.php). Sure! Penn sent me an email back in October giving me the merit waiver since I had signed up through the CAS system.Motivated wrote:If you don't mind me asking, how did you get the fee waiver?Cardinal143 wrote:Long time lurker- got the ding email Friday. Just been designated as an "alternate" for the Wilson...
Surprised, I thought the nomination process was ceremonial.
Any thoughts on what the chances are of eventually getting one?
Also, the range of "other prestigious scholarships available"?
Thanks

When did you submit your essay for it? I got an S-R invite, but if it's not upgraded to full, I likely won't go.mdu wrote:Just been designated as an "alternate" for the Wilson...
