I can only assume this is very good news... Has anyone else received a similar email? It also doesn't specify what kind of interview it is, but I'm assuming it's over the phone/skype?
When did you go UR?
I've been UR since 10/8 it seems.

The e-mail is from Jason Dugas, formerly the director of admissions -- and he is asking to set a time to discuss my application sometime within the next week. Threads from past years lead me to believe that this could very well lead to an acceptance, but I'm skeptical and don't want to get my hopes up too high.

Any insights would be appreciated.

This is great news. This is the interview that everyone else has gone through prior to acceptance. The only insight is to get that interview scheduled ASAP.

They will make sure you feel comfortable, be professional but be yourself. The interview is a great sign that you'll be admitted, and if you'll do well enough, you should be offered admission in the interview.

I'm in a complete radio silence boat and cannot figure out why. Went complete 11/30 after submitting my application 11/25 and I have seen zero status checker movement. >75th for LSAT and GPA. Anyone else in a similar situation?

Did you include a Why UVA addendum? If not, that could be one possible explanation. They seem to really like those.

I'm ~75th LSAT and <25th GPA, but in the same boat. Emailed in a "Why UVA" addendum last night and got confirmation this morning they added it to my application, so hopefully I'll see some movement soon.

Whoa, now, let's not set him up for an anxiety fit if he doesn't get admitted at the end of the call. I've only read about Cordel (the Dean of Admissions) actually offering admission at the end of the call. OP, don't freak out if you don't get admitted at the end of the call. I interviewed with someone other than Cordel and got word of my admission a couple of days later.

That's my bad, I'm sorry! :( I still think it's a good sign though (OP will be fine but I understand and may have jumped the gun a bit, in my reread I see what you're talking about)

According to last year's thread, we should be seeing some action in about two weeks or so. There were even reports of scholarships and fin aid that people had no been aware of prior to receiving their financial aid package, so there's still hope!

Awesome--I haven't done the tracking work that others have done, and I'm in class haha. I only just submitted my financial aid stuff on Monday so we'll see!

To add onto this, I spoke with someone in Financial Aid about a week ago to make sure that I had completed all of the necessary forms and they said that they would likely begin giving awards towards the end of this month. So definitely don't lose hope!

For sure. I know need-based stuff basically can't have gone out yet (their priority deadline isn't till Friday), but I hope that means merit-based too.

I received a merit-based in the mail last week, was admitted 11/13. My stats are decent, but not great; nonetheless the award was larger than Michigan's (which was a shock, I assumed it would be less, if any). Maybe UVA is feeling particularly generous this cycle!

Haha much thanks to both of you guys. At least someone's looking out for my mental state -- this cycle has been one prolonged anxiety fit, full of surprises (WL's from prime target schools, admission to semi-reaches, etc).

Fwiw, I chatted with someone who had the Dugas interview a few days ago and they hadn't heard back just yet. That, combined with the fact that UVA is definitely a mild "reach" for me, has me a bit skeptical but alas... I can't help the fact that this has gotten my hopes up to the point where my other admittances don't seem so exciting anymore.

Last thing -- does the fact that Dugas is no longer actually on the admissions committee lead you guys to believe that maybe this interview doesn't mean what it has meant in past cycles (ie probable admission)? I know I'm way overthinking this, but hey, I've been UR since the day after I submitted my app so it feels good to have something to speculate about.

^^ Kiddo, the dude is conducting admissions interviews. He's on the committee. The committee includes folks beside those who work exclusively in admissions.

Mentioned this above, but I spoke to Financial Aid about a week ago and they mentioned that they would likely be sending out awards towards the end of the month. So I would venture to say that there's definitely money left!

Thank you!

Also, does anyone know if I can continue to stay on waitlists after I make both seat deposits at UVA? I feel like I read somewhere that they make you withdraw from every other school and commit after the second seat deposit, but I can't find that right now. Or maybe I'm just wrong.

I think that waitlists are treated different from admissions and other outstanding decisions. Duke's initial seat deposit is "binding" but I have been advised that riding other waitlists was allowed. (It may be different for UVA, I don't know for sure)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
