Sorry to hear it-does "too many people" imply that those of us who applied on the later side at this point can probably expect a WL or ding?

"we cannot extend an offer at this time because of the risk that our class will be overenrolled"

Any way to improve my chances at getting off WL? I've already filled out their survey. Not sure what's next. Fortunately I live an hour from the campus. I could just put a tent up by the office.
Yikes, I wonder what that means for those of us who haven't heard anything yet. Have you done a "Why Michigan" essay or LOCI?

I wrote a "why michigan" along with a diversity and personal statement. I figured by the end of the week I will write a LOCI.
Were you waitlisted? I did all of those things too (diversity and why Michigan - family ties/entrepreneurship), applied mid Jan / complete end of Jan. Haven't heard anything yet.

I'm like 90% sure I'm going in June. Absolutely love Michigan and as a splitter I'm thrilled I got in to begin with. But I'm still gonna wait out some other T14's through April/May when all the waitlists start to move.
Yep. Moving out sometime in late May.

For those of you digging into employment data, can you share what stats you're evaluating and you're sources? I want to compare a few different schools and be sure the information I'm looking at is accurate across the board. Thanks!

Just got the admit email.

Does anyone know if there are still hopes for scholarship consideration this late in the cycle? And would the news be released at the same time as the admit email?

Admitted this morning as well! Submitted mid-January and went complete two weeks ago.

Congrats on the acceptance!

My scholarship offer came 5 days after the acceptance email, and this was just over the last two weeks. I doubt it's too late in the cycle for you to be considered.

Ugh, the automated email response with the video of ducks/puppies. Maybe I'd find the admissions schtick charming and not obnoxious if I were in already, but...

Can any current students elaborate on what a professor's reaction would be to bringing a dog to class? :D It's a silent pug.

Unless it's a service animal, I don't see the law school or most professors looking too kindly on this. Might make for a funny one-time prank, though.

I was accepted last Wednesday and received my scholarship information this afternoon, so you might hear something soon.

Is there some sort of deadline for them to issue decisions by? I sent my app in a long time ago at this point and they're the only school I haven't heard from, so I was wondering if there's a set date I can assume I'll know by.

One of UM's selling points is that they don't rank their students until after they graduate...So how do employers differentiate candidates? I'm assuming employers look at your grades at OCI, but how do they know where you rank in your class? What if you have a 3.65 for instance, but are actually in the top 1/3 of your class? How do students know how they're performing compared to their peers?

Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

Seems like that could be good or bad depending on where you fall in the ranking. It also explains why the harder grading curve was so harmful.

See http://www.law.umich.edu/careers/clerks ... urces.aspx for some useful resources, especially the Class Ranking Letter. You need to have a Michigan log-in to access it, however.

As a practical matter, employers will see your transcript and have a decent sense of your relative performance, especially if they are interviewing many people. And then there are other signals, like Certificates of Merit and other awards. But obviously they won't know your exact class rank. Neither do students, and I think this is all by design: to put people on a slightly more equal footing in the job hunt and also to keep them from being overly competitive and seeking to climb the rankings.
