University of Denver C/O 2018
Didn't see a thread, so here it goes. Has anyone applied to/heard back from DU? My application was complete on September 15 with a 165 LSAT, 2.96 GPA (poor engineering grades 10 years ago, 3.96 today in business), personal statement detailing running for public office under a major party and a 9 year professional career. I still show the application status as ready for review.
I'm curious to see how anyone else is faring early in the process. I checked last year's threads and it looked like letters were being sent by now.

Checking in. Ready for review as well. I thought it was weird too that it hasn't at least gone into review yet.

I haven't submitted yet, but when I went and met with the admissions office, they said they do not start looking at apps until sometime in November and that the apps will be reviewed in the order that they were submitted.

Native Coloradoan checking in... Ready for review.
They'll have to do better than the standard 84k scholly for it to be a good option for me, though.

My app is ready for review as well. Their website says that replies are normally sent out 6-8 weeks after finalizing the application. My application was completed 9/16/2014, so I sent their office of admissions if I can expect to hear anything back soon, as it's been 9+ weeks since my application was completed. I haven't heard anything back yet, but will keep this updated if I do.

Hey all,
Doing my yearly check-in. Graduated last year from DU, took and passed the CO Bar, working in a large firm downtown (200+). Let me know if you have any questions about DU, Denver, firm life, non-firm life, cooking, gardening, quarks, whatever.

A couple that I can think of off the bat... What does employment look like compared to boulder? With boulder ranked higher did you feel at a disadvantage at all for job prospects?
Any areas you recommend to live and not live in the area?
How much free time did you have first year to explore CO? I'm from CA and would love to attend and explore the state.

Not sure about the numbers, but I never really thought about Boulder while in school or during my job search. Both schools have their own alumni networks, and both schools are well-represented in the Denver job market. Denver isn't a market necessarily concerned just with school ranking, especially as far as DU and CU are concerned. It's more your experience, grades, and networking that can help you find a job.kwabbs wrote:fundamentallybroken wrote:Hey all,

I don't know if there's any areas "not to live" necessarily in Denver. There's areas that are more convenient for school (right around campus, along the train lines), areas that are more expensive, and areas that are cheaper. If you want to be near school, there's a lot of great apartment and shared housing options. If that doesn't matter to you, Capitol Hill is a young and vibrant area, as is the Highlands. Both are only 10 to 20 minutes from campus by car, depending on the time of day.
I didn't need much time to explore - I've been here for a long, long time. However, I had plenty of free time all through school. I have a young family, so it was spent with them. If you treat law school like an 8 to 5 job, there's way more time than you would think you'd have.

LSAT: 159
This was their response:
Hello Connor,
You are correct, our website does say that it typically takes 6 – 8 weeks to receive a decision. We have had a late start with our Committee meeting. The earliest that they tend to begin meeting is in late October, this year we are starting the review process a little later than originally anticipated. I do not have a specific date that I can give you for a decision, but we hope that September applicants will have decisions soon. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
