Say hello to Juan Carlos Clayton if you get up there. He's a friend of mine and will be a 2L when you get there.

What do you (and other students) think of McWilliams? Is it true he's gotten offers from Harvard?CoffeeIsLife wrote:Current 1L here. If you guys and girls have any questions let me know, I would be happy to help.

See your PM but long story short, I'm in a different section than McWilliams teachesHRomanus wrote:What do you (and other students) think of McWilliams? Is there a good assortment of potential internships/externships near the law school? At a forum the representative from SC said that a perk to the school is the location because it is near the state capitol, would you say that is true?

The school is about 5 blocks from the Capital so the opportunity is there. I'm not going to lie to you and say you will definitely get the job you want, I can't predict the future, but we all receive mentors who are current lawyers or judges, and we have ample opportunities to meet with professionals in the field.applicant4321 wrote:Is there a good assortment of potential internships/externships near the law school? Hello prospective Gamecocks!
I have been checking my application status on a daily (ok...maybe even hourly) basis. Not sure if this means anything, but earlier today (and every other time I have checked) my application status read "File is Complete." Now, the application status is gone. It simply says "Year: 2015, Program Type: Full Time, Degree: JD". Any idea what (if anything) this change means!?

I was looking at some previous years and it could possibly mean that you should be getting something in the mail soon. Good luck!jepper wrote:bluehose wrote:Hello prospective Gamecocks!

My application wasn't complete until November 25th. I had my application & materials in back in September, but my second reference drug her feet a bit turning the LOR in so the application status read as "Application is Incomplete". She submitted the LOR (finally) and it went complete on the 25th. Today is the first day the application status has failed to show up.

Hey y'all! I don't remember my status disappearing last year, but it will eventually turn into "decisions not given by phone or email." That's when you know your decision is being carefully handled by the USPS! So look out for that cryptic change. Decisions should be rolling out soon. I was accepted mid-December last year.

Don't be discouraged with a delay hearing back. I don't think I heard back till early March and I got in with money. The process takes time, especially if you aren't from SC. If you guys and girls have any questions feel free to ask I know a few of the 1L's are on here checking it out, and procrastinating studying for finals.

My application went complete on 11/21 and is showing blank now as well! How odd. Hoping it means good things for everyone regardless!

My scholarship was included with my acceptance letter. They are both generous and not, if that makes any sense. I believe most (90+%) out-of-state students get an equalizer, and I'm not sure of the rate of in-state recipients. They did get a very large gift this past year to be used starting with your class, so the scholarship amounts may be more kind this year!bluesandgreens wrote:mine is blank as well! so maybe we will be getting some sort of news soon!

As far as getting a full ride: beats me. I was >75% on both LSAT and GPA and didn't get what I was expecting, but I did get something. You should also keep in mind the cost of living here is relatively low, so that helps counteract the overall costs.

Re: University of South Carolina Law Class of 2018
What AYL said is right. I'm out of state and got an equalizer which basically comes out to 50% for us out of staters. I'll be able to get SC residence my second year, and as far as I understand will be able to bring a portion of my scholarship over to reduce the instate cost. I got mine right away, but I wouldn't expect to be able to successfully play hardball on the scholarship negotiations. I got a number of other schools to raise my offer, but USC continually stated they had given all they were going to give. I don't know of anyone that got a full ride outside of some former Military which had GI Bill.ayl wrote:My scholarship was included with my acceptance letter.
