Check lawschooltransparency.com. Basically, any biglaw referenced in CU's stats is going to be in Denver. (There isn't any biglaw in Colorado outside of Denver; there isn't very much biglaw in Denver, even.) Some people do go outside Colorado for jobs, but it's a small number, and very very few of those are going to be in biglaw.

Don't go to CU if you "have to have" Biglaw. Go to T-14.

And yeah as Mouse said Biglaw is very small in Colorado and it's only located in Denver. I interviewed with the 2nd largest firm in Colorado Springs. Firm had 10 or maybe 11 attorneys.

Conveniently, Colorado 200 came out this week if you want to know numbers: http://www.lawweekonline.com/2014/11/th ... -200-2015/

Thanks! I love Colorado and I am not big law or bust at all. What I am hoping to gain some insight on is if I want to live and work in Colorado would I be better served attending Boulder or going to a T14 or higher ranked institution outside the T14.

Thanks!

I got my application in on October 1 and got the email saying it was completed on the 11th. Showing application status of in review since October 30. 165 LSAT and 2.96 GPA with really bad GPA from engineering 10 years ago and a 3.96 now. I have a couple of extremely strong recommendations (large donors to the school). Hopefully we will know soon. Does anyone have an acceptance or waitlist letter?

Do you have ties to Colorado? If so, going to a T-14 and trying to come back would give you some interviews at least. But look Biglaw in Denver is a pipe dream for students all over the country, even from the most prestigious national schools. It's that small and that selective.

If you want to have a legal career in Colorado, go to CU. If you want to work at a giant firm, go to T-14.

Looks like first decisions came out in late November last cycle. We may have a week or two to wait.

Does it matter? I don't know a CU law student that used any part of campus other than the new rec.

Campus is really nice and in a beautiful area. He's right though, the law building is sort of on the end of the campus so its not like youll be interacting with other students in other buildings (unless you do a JD/MA)

The law building though is really nice, I've studied in the library a few times because its so quiet.

I should have phrased that differently. How do you like the area? I have never been to Boulder but loved Denver and Alpine.

I'm from Colorado and have worked with many attorneys in Denver. The Denver legal community seems to be very welcoming and friendly. I wouldn't say it's big law at all, but I would say that people who typically thrive in Colorado enjoy a more laid back lifestyle than you would find in big cities across the country. There are also some larger firms here that could be considered 'big law' for Colorado.

Additionally, the majority of lawyers in Denver definitely attended either DU or CU law schools, with CU having a better reputation (although DU grads hold many important positions and jobs throughout the city).

Do keep in mind that the reason TLS is so big on biglaw is not true of the larger firms in Colorado for the most part. TLS's obsession with biglaw has everything to do with the refined path—you get a job from OCI/mass-mailing and not fucking up your SA—rather than prestige or pay. There are very, very few CU law students with their permanent employment lined up during 3L, let alone during 3L fall.

If you want an idea where students are coming from have gotten jobs recently, it's new associate press release season and digging through lawweekonline.com should give you some sense. It's a small sample size, but it will give you an idea.

Does anyone know how long it takes to review? I spoke to the admissions staff about unrelated things today, but didn't want to appear nervous so I didn't ask.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
