GA State c/o 2018
Checking In.
I haven't seen a thread for Ga State so I thought I would go ahead and start one. I applied P/T so I guess I would really be 2019 but same applicant cycle.
Ga State is my first pick because of their part time/evening program ( 2 kiddos- 1 baby @ home ) and relatively low cost. I already live in the ATL area and just can't uproot my family so here is to hoping!
Current status is application received - 10/23
Anyone else?

I applied on 10/23 as well! I'm still only in "File Complete" but I'm hoping for some changes soon!

At least your file is complete! How long did it take after the 23rd for it to show as complete? Thanks!applicant4321 wrote:I applied on 10/23 as well! I'm still only in "File Complete" but I'm hoping for some changes soon!

Now that I think about it.... it just says Application received! Not even complete yet... sorry if I got anyone's hopes up there....
does anyone know how long it usually takes to hear back from them or if they have a certain date that they usually notify people by?

I wish more people would comment on this thread because I want to know how the process is coming along for others... I called admissions yesterday and the person I spoke with said they will start reviewing applications in the coming weeks, but that the bulk of the applications will not be reviewed until January.... Thats not a lot of info but it makes me hopeful that I might find out something before January.

Re: GA State c/o 2018
I went complete yesterday too.
I considered calling admissions because on the status checker it says to log in periodically to check for a decision but I read on the GSU website they don't start reviewing files until January. I was going to ask if there was any point to logging on like it says between now and January but you answered my question. On last year's thread it definitely looked like people were admitted starting in November I think. I wonder if the really strong candidates, maybe well above their medians will be admitted earlier and the rest will have to wait for committee review like the website says.

That was exactly why I called them, I didn't understand why they would specifically say "keep checking back" if their website said they weren't going to start reviewing until January!

Applied 10/3, went complete on 10/7. I *think* I applied to both programs. I've completed so many apps that they've blurred together at this point. No date update since 10/7.
Good luck everyone

oh got it, i applied full-time day and full time day/evening. I'm not sure what the difference is really except that I guess full time day doesn't have any evening classes, but I don't really see why evening classes would be a problem... at least its not for me. I hope thats the only difference! Does anyone know if ranking more than one program increases your chances of getting in?

Re: GA State c/o 2018
I would think it would to certain degree, as part-time programs usually have less stringent numbers and they may value an applicant's flexibility. All of the schools that have pt and ft, and allowed applicants to apply to both I stated I prefer pt. I'm already in my late 20's, so one more year isn't a big deal to me. Plus, it's less tuition per year, easier to maintain GPA, and leaves me with the ability to network for 4 years. I think the pros kind of outweigh the consapplicant4321 wrote:oh got it, i applied full-time day and full time day/evening. I wonder how PT vs FT affects scholarships? I honestly haven't done any research on the topic and hope that there isn't any difference.

I actually went to the open house this past weekend and the director of admissions said that it doesn't affect scholarships at all!

It means your file is moving through their review process. Hopefully we'll see some decisions soon!applicant4321 wrote:so... my status still only says "complete" but the date for the status changed from the day my file actually went complete to todays date.. is this normal?

Hey all,
I'm a 2L at GSU, and happy to answer any questions that you might have.
The class you're applying to is pretty exciting. You'll be the first class to spend your entire 3 years in the new building, which is going to be really awesome. Anyways, if you have any questions about the school please send me a PM and I'll be happy to share my experience.
