Miami Law c/o 2018 Applicants
Didn't see a thread so thought I would kick it off. Applied to UM on Sept 15 and got the call from the Dean saying I was in three days later. Good luck to everyone.

I'm retaking this Saturday too so it didn't affect their decision. 157/3.66

Also, not sure if it's really known, but do you think early admission in a cycle has a greater chance at scholarship money?

I'm 3.88/152, hoping I can break into the 160s this time around. (From Miami)

Taking the LSAT this Saturday. Rough basis for an estimation, but I'm upper 160's lower 170's right now, but a pretty low GPA. My parents retired to Miami, so it'd be nice to get in with $$$ and possibly live at home.

Re: Miami Law c/o 2018 Applicants
Last year's thread it seems as if scholarship info came 3-4 weeks later after the acceptance packet, but the bulk of people receiving their scholarship letters was in December, so you may be right. 175 3.76 is way above their medians so Imaybe that's why they already gave him his scholarship info early?MikeM-law wrote:I thought the packet said scholarships are awarded in December?Hat.trick wrote:Checking In!

9/28- Accepted at Miami via phone call less than 24 hours after submitting my application. Dean said there would for sure be a scholarship offer, and I should have details within a month. 163/3.1

Yes it seems like they give out money to the 160+ test takers. I hope I hit that with the sept lsat bc i don't think I'm getting shit w/ a 157.WichitaShocker wrote:9/28- Accepted at Miami via phone call less than 24 hours after submitting my application. Still very early in cycle obviously, but does anyone have any knowledge how Miami responds to scholarship negotiations?

Re: Miami Law c/o 2018 Applicants
I know you do not have your LSAT score yet, but if you think you are only going to get a 150 ish and have a 3.2. I would recommend taking another year off, and studying for the LSAT. You've already been out of undergrad for 2 years, another years won't hurt at all. I would say a 160 will get you accepted and a good scholarship to Miami.dmarieb wrote:I'm in the process of applying right now, but not taking the LSAT until December. I'm really stuck on the personal statement. I know it's not required but my numbers probably won't be that great so I want to make sure everything else is as perfect as possible. Not sure of my exact numbers yet (just requested my transcripts be sent to LSAC and like I said taking the LSAT in December) but estimated 3.2 and 150ish. Miami is my top choice because I have to stay in South Florida for family reasons.
Also - I have over 2 years professional work experience in the legal field since graduating from UCF.
Any advice for my application/personal statement?! I'd really like to see you all there next Fall!
I know it may seem a bit impossible to get to a 160, but my first Lsat was a 148. I took a year off and dedicated myself to LSAT prep, and I scored a 163, well worth the extra year of my life.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
