Univ of Denver Sturm College of Law Class of 2017 Waitlist
I was recently waitlisted for the 2017 entering class at University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Any pointers on what I could do to get off the waitlist and become a part of the entering class for 2014? Thanks!

DU made have done you a favor. How many times have you taken the LSAT ? If less than three, consider retaking & aiming for law schools with better placement.

DU isn't a bad university and the location is ideal personally... I just wanted advise on how to get off the waitlist.CanadianWolf wrote:DU made have done you a favor. How many times have you taken the LSAT ? If less than three, consider retaking & aiming for law schools with better placement.

CanadianWolf, please read the rules of this forum: http://top-law-schools.com/forums/viewt ... 7&t=146613; this is not the place to debate the merits of attending a particular school.CanadianWolf wrote:DU made have done you a favor. In that case, my advice is to send in a continuing letter of interest (LOCI) to the law school admissions office. I suspect that even a phone call should suffice if you're willing to be a full-pay law student at DU.

It's usually described as a LOCI here, actually.

As to the other comments, that is what I planned to do. I appreciate it!

Waitlisted as well. I plan on submitting my LOCI soon. I was also waitlisted at Boulder, so perhaps a trip out to visit the two schools will also help with my chances of being admitted into both DU and Boulder.

To those waitlisted at Denver I would be sure to make it known that you have ties in Denver, or have good reason to want to be in Denver. They seem to look for that in my experience!

Thanks all--- I have decided on the University of Arizona instead. Good luck to those on the Colorado schools waitlist. It's a fun area!

What exactly do you mean by ties to Denver? I am from the East Coast so I obviously do not have any residency ties in the region. However, I do see Denver as a place that I may want to live/practice in the future.7ofNine wrote:To those waitlisted at Denver I would be sure to make it known that you have ties in Denver, or have good reason to want to be in Denver. Have you been to Denver or Colorado? I wouldn't make anything up, but if you have legitimate reasons for wanting to be in Denver let them know. I am from CO and had a parent that went to DU and I felt like they appreciated that. If you are sending a LOCI maybe just make mention of the fact that you think Denver/Colorado would be an amazing place to live and practice because blah blah blah. Also DU is really proud of their Clinical Programs so maybe look into those.clemenza wrote:What exactly do you mean by ties to Denver? Never been to CO other than a layover at DEN. But I am a big skier and I appreciate the resources and nature of Colorado. (I'm planning on going for enviro law--DU has a great program/clinical opportunities/student orgs). I spoke with a school rep at my undergrad law school fair and we discussed environmental issues that Colorado is facing--perhaps mention that?7ofNine wrote:Have you been to Denver or Colorado? I think that sounds like a great thing to mention.clemenza wrote:

This is a weird situation, but my email account deleted all of my old emails, including my decision email. Does anyone have the name of the dean that signed the email, is it Iain Davis? (not sure if waitlist/accepted students are signed by the same Dean).. Thanks

Accepted off WL! However no scholarship funds remain forcing me to decline admission. Pretty bummed given Denver was a top choice. Good luck to everyone!

Just accepted off the waitlist, but I denied the offer due to already committing elsewhere. I hope one of you gets the spot!
