Case Western c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
I didn't see one for Case. As a resident of northern Ohio, it made sense to apply as a safety school.
But I heard bad things about the Dean and employment doesn't seem to be great.
Can anyone shed light on Case Western?
Anyone else apply?

Why not apply to California schools?Newb2law wrote:can you guys please shed some light? anyone? is it stupid to go here if you want to practice in california??
The UCs are great, especially if that's where you want to practice. Might as well move there now and start making connections (not to mention take advantage of the fabulous weather).

I would probably say so. I wouldn't go to Case unless you were extremely comfortable with the idea of being in Cleveland, Ohio or surrounding areas. At least in my opinion.Newb2law wrote:can you guys please shed some light? anyone? is it stupid to go here if you want to practice in california??
Having lived here my whole life, I can say it does have a strong reputation in the area for a lot of different programs.
I'm meeting with a couple alumni next week. I'll try to share their perspectives.

Let us know, I'm curious to see what alums feel about Case.ohioguy99 wrote:

I go to Case. It’s one of the dumbest things you could ever do to go to a 45k/yr school in Ohio if you want to end up in California.

I met with an alum today. Just a small town lawyer. About 30 years old. Grew up around Cleveland. Enjoyed his time at Case and considered the atmosphere to be a good one. Not overly competitive, more collaborative. He said he wished he was more aware of the debt and the cost of law school. He wouldn't recommend going to Case without some sort of large scholarship, though he said that Case usually gives pretty big ones anyways.art&law24 wrote:Let us know, I'm curious to see what alums feel about Case.ohioguy99 wrote:

Felt there were pretty loyal alumni around the Cleveland area(how he secured internships and his job) and that if you are near the top of the class you shouldn't have much trouble finding something. More of a struggle for those who didn't do as well but that isn't unique to Case.
He said he knew people who went to NYC and DC but they were the top students. Essentially be aware that you may just be in the Cleveland area and be comfortable with that.
All and all he seemed pretty down to earth and relatable.

Re: Case Western c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
I'm new on here, but has anyone applied and gotten in yet? My application was complete as of 3/13. Yesterday, 3/31, my status changed from "Committee Review - Stage 1 of 2" to "Committee Review - Stage 2 of 2". Today, it changed to "Decision Rendered", but I don't know what that means.
No email as of yet saying accepted, dinged, or WL. Just "decision rendered". This wait is killing me.

I went to CR 2 of 2 yesterday and the date updated again today. Can anyone tell me how long until they send out a decision from here? I contacted them yesterday to set up a visit next Tuesday and I wonder if that has anything to do with my date changes.

For me, I found out I was in 48 hours after my status checker went to CR 2 of 2.

Thank you for this! I went CR 2 of 2 yesterday too, and have been checking it all day waiting for it to change! Getting impatient as the days go by here, looking forward to hearing something, hope it's today or tomorrow too..nidaja wrote: For me, I found out I was in 48 hours after my status checker went to CR 2 of 2.

No problem! And just a tip, once it finally changes to Decision Rendered, you may not get anything telling you what the decision actually is for another day or two. At that point, check the Requirements box on your status checker -- if it's changed from the checked off "Personal Statement, Resume, etc." to the unchecked "Scholarship" and "Transcripts", you probably* got in. Are there any current students on here? I'm particularly interested in speaking with someone familiar with the international law program. Thanks

Oh for the love of pete, CWRU! I've been at Committee 2 of 2 since 4/7. I had a visit two and a half weeks ago, during which the dean told me that I "should hear something in the next day or two." I'm holding out hope that this delay means they are pulling together a very generous scholarship. I liked the area and the school much more than I was expecting! I just want to know where I stand so I can finally narrow it down to one school plus waitlists.

I had been on committee review 2 since March 1st, and finally got the waitlist decision today. Expect some movement in the coming days.givemescholly wrote:Oh for the love of pete, CWRU! Case Western Law is more of a regional law school and you have better options such as OSU, U Conn or Akron Law......Just my 2 cents.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
