I got in yesterday w/ a scholarship but the exact amount wasn't included.
I seriously doubt I'll be attending. Applied as a safety, basically.

"why not" as in why not post a Quinni thread. I applied to all the part time programs within driving distance of where I work, since I can only go part time. So, I applied at Quinnipiac, UConn and Western New England

A lot of acceptances went out yesterday.

I know, I saw that...but i'm still waiting for my decision It's getting a little painful. What's worse, waiting for your LSAT score, or waiting for a decision?

Accepted yesterday with a scholarship. Hopefully I'll get the snail mail letter tomorrow with $$ info. I went into review a day after I submitted as well, then nothing from 12/13 to 1/7 when my decision went out. Don't know if that time frame helps those still waiting. Good luck everybody!

Distinguished Scholars Award, $25K/yr, very nice handwritten note from the dean with my acceptance packet

Also, still in the running for the Deans Fellowship, will be notified in a few weeks if I get to interview!

However! Is anyone else kind of concerned with the stips on the scholarship? Something about remaining in the "top tier" of the class. Any idea what that's all about?

I believe it is top 50 percent of the class and I think they section stack from what I've heard.

I wonder if they stack differently depending on what type of scholarship you get... It seems like it would be self-defeating to stack against ALL scholarships, since I believe they have to report scholarship retention rates. Maybe faculty fellowships are sorted in with non-scholarship students? I know two QU alumni who got through without any scholarship reduction, but not sure what type/amount.

So they don't have great scholarship retention, really. I just read back over some stuff and top 50% gets renewed 100%, middle 25% gets renewed at 25% and the bottom 25% gets eliminated. I wonder how willing they would be to negotiate? I have full ride offers from two similarly ranked schools with the only stip being good academic standing.

I've never heard of anyone negotiating anything other than a dollar amount, but I'm curious to know if it works for you. I would think you would have to be an OUTSTANDING applicant to even have a prayer of accomplishing that, though, in which case, if any of your other scholarship offers are at higher-ranked or otherwise more appealing schools then why bother?

They have different requirements for different types of scholarships. Their merit scholarships have top 50 percent stipulations. They also have Distinguished Scholar awards that you only need to remain in good academic standing to keep, but those are based on diversity and require a diversity statement for consideration.

Anyone else receive a letter inviting them to interview for scholarship increases? Wondering how it affects stips for DS awards. The letter mentions "increase the amount of your scholarship" and also "additional merit-based scholarships." I wonder if the additional would have a 50% stip for an original DS recipient?

Well, THAT is interesting....BTW, got my acceptance via email today with scholly, but have to wait for snail mail to find out how much.

It looks like the first admitted students' day is March 2nd, it will be nice to get a look at the new campus. Has anyone gotten any correspondence about the Dean's Fellows scholarships?

I got a letter telling me the decisions for the DF finalists will be made by 3/10. If you're selected the interviews will be held the weekend of 4/6-7, and their website says travel and lodging are paid for by the university. The email also specifically noted that if you are selected as a fellow, the Dean's or Faculty Fellowship will replace your original award (I'm assuming all of the finalists will already have been given some award with their acceptance). That is important if you are a DS recipient, because DS scholarships don't have any stips other than "good standing" whereas the fellowships have a top 75% stip. Not a huge deal, but worth noting - the Faculty Fellowship is worth $43K, so if you get a $40K DS scholarship (and good for you if you did, because mine wasn't that high!) then it might be worth the peace of mind to just shell out the other $3K and know you can't lose your award. Also note that fellowships are further limited if you're looking at pursuing certain tracks - there are only 2 each awarded to students pursuing the Health Law Concentration and the Civil Advocacy and Dispute Resolution Concentration, with the rest being distributed to "generalists or specialists in areas other than the two specified."

That's interesting, I was curious what the time frame would be this year for Dean's Fellowships. Looking back at previous years, it seems the finalists were announced in the beginning of February. This year everything seems to be happening more slowly, so it's not surprising that would be delayed too.

I didn't get a DS, I was awarded a merit scholarship, so it comes with a top 50 percent stipulation. I would, of course, love to get one of the Dean's Fellowships. I haven't received any correspondence about it, though, so who knows what that means.

The fellowships, before this year, evidently used to have top 50 percent stips as well, so DS scholarships were definitely a better deal.
