Also in with full ride! Looking at past years I don't think they've given out this many full rides, do you guys have any idea what the full tuition stip is? Anxiously awaiting the letter.

I've heard that they're going to start offering in-state and out-of-state tuition in the Fall and I'm OOS so I'm SO surprised to be offered a full tuition scholly. Congratulations on everyone else who heard back today and fingers crossed for those still waiting!

Also, I will be touring the Carlisle campus in the morning-- my dad is attending the Army War College here so I figured I'd set up a tour to see the school while I was here for break, no idea I'd be accepted the night before! I'll report back tomorrow with any information regarding the scholarship stip and everything else!

They are making it RAIN with all these full-ride scholarships. Maybe today was a full-ride day? Also in with full-ride! It's kind of exciting, and is making me think seriously about Penn State. Congrats to all!

Re: Penn State c/o 2017 Applicants (2013/2014)
Just toured the Carlisle campus, so this is my take on everything that I learned. Note: this is me re-capping from memory what I was told, so don't quote me on it!
As far as in-state tuition: there is no in-state tuition because that's something that is handled by the state legislature. In order to be more competitive for Pennsylvania residents Penn State is guaranteeing a $20,000, stipulation-free scholarship to all Pennsylvania residents.
For those of us who have been offered full tuition but haven't been told the terms yet: don't worry! They will be deciding the terms based off of performance of this year's 1Ls and I was reassured that the stipulations will be at a level where it will be possible for everyone offered a scholarship to renew it. (The number that she (a woman from the financial aid office) said was a 3.0 but that's not for sure because it hasn't been calculated yet.

Did she say they're offering more full rides and more scholarships than usual? Did mention when the stips would be calculated and given to us? Thanks for the report.

There's definitely more scholarship offers, especially since they're guaranteeing 20k to all PA residents, not sure if there is an increased volume of full rides as opposed to past years. However, the 3L that gave me a tour said that when he was a 1L the class sections were about 50 people and now they're in the low 30s-- he explained that now that less people are applying to law school Penn State has opted to lower the class size as opposed to lowering the admissions standards. This is just my own speculation, but I would think that less students means more scholarship money available per student.
Stips should be in our packets, which should be mailed out in the next week, I think.

Re: Penn State c/o 2017 Applicants (2013/2014)
I'm actually from Jacksonville, Fl and I go to school there now. My parents just moved here (to Carlisle) last Summer because my dad is attending the Army War College, but they will be moving away by Summer 2015 at the absolute latest. All of my family is in the Southeast but I am about 97% sure that I'll be a 1L an Penn State in the Fall.osubucknut wrote:So where are you guys from and is everybody seriously considering penn state?
I only applied to four schools: Campbell (126th) who offered me a large scholarship but still about 10k short of full tuition, and then Temple and Wake, and I have yet to hear back from either of those. I can't imagine that either will offer me anywhere near the scholarship that Penn State has offered, so I'm getting excited about the idea of being a Nittany Lion!

I got in with a full ride this week too. According to the email, it's good if I maintain above a 3.0 GPA. Penn State wasn't my first choice, but it's going to be to pretty difficult to justify paying money to go elsewhere.
