Also checking in, riding this one out into perpetuity. I'm trying to be hopeful, but history doesn't seem to be on our side.

Checking in as well. Someone on another thread mentioned sifting through LSN and seeing that only 7 people (who self-reported) made it off last year's Reserve. Anyone know if that seems accurate or indicative? I know it's a ridiculously tough Reserve but is it THAT tough?

Re: Columbia Reserves 12/13
I haven't looked at that yet, but all things considered, its a T6 school in NYC (with subsidized living!) so it's many people's first choice. Even for those whose it's not (end up goin to hys or lower t14 with money), they hold a lot of people too, and it seems they get looked at way b4 reserves do, so after they finish sifting through holds, then they may hit their reserves. If I'm correct in all this, given all those barriers, it's not looking good for a reserve candidate.pebblsrock wrote:Checking in as well. Columbia is my definite #1 (even over HYS, believe it or not) so I will be staying on this reserve to the bitter end. But, that being said, I have no grandiose notions that I'm going to get in, just because I want to be a little realistic. Don't mean to be bleak or negative, but that just seems like the reality we face.
Then again, you really never know though as this cycle has been very strange to say the least, and hopefully I am wrong and we all are pleasantly surprised!

Since the reserves are secondary to many applicants with better numbers, is it still a numbers game for applicants within the reserve group or is it more focused on diversity/unique softs?

Not on reserve but does anyone know where being deferred ED stands relative to being "reserved" and "held"?
