Akron Law c/o 2016
Applied 10/1
Admitted 11/2
$18,500 renewable scholarship.
Akron was my undergrad and I've lived in the city for my entire life. Looking forward to starting next fall. I also applied to Case, Toledo, Dayton, and Cleveland State but will likely attend Akron since I already own a house here.
I hear only 37 students have been admitted so far at this point, anyone else admitted or applying (or applied) to Akron?

Was accepted recently and attended the open house in January.
LOVED the school, but being from the NYC-area, I don't know how well a degree from the University of Akron will transfer back in regards to applying for jobs...

Any other admitted students get an e-mail about Akron locking tuition for the class of 2016 and dropping non-resident surcharges, among some other changes?

Got in, with a lengthy e-mail regarding their new in-state tuition and all that good fixed rate stuff. Probably won't go since I got into a school in my hometown and would love to stay here. Will be withdrawing within the next couple days

The rate lock kinda sealed the deal for me. They did up tuition 6% but I'm looking at about $66k in total tuition debt...and that's before subtracting my scholarship. Meanwhile Case (my second choice) at sticker would cost me $42k for a single year plus costs of moving out thereto Cleveland, renting 3 years, etc.
Akron also upped my scholarship offer from $18k to $20K and lowered the standards for keeping full value from top 15% to top 30%.
I was 90% sure I'd end up at Akron anyways, being a mile from the campus and having spent my life here since moving to OH as a kid in the early 90s. I know it's a "Tier-3" but I think it's unfair to put Akron in the same category as for-profit schools like Florida Coastal, Cooley, and so on that take anyone in and charge $45k/year.
Take a look at every local attorneys website around Akron, Canton, Youngstown and throughout NE Ohio and good chance they're an Akron alum. Recent grads even too.
So I'm officially a future 1L at Akron. I feel pretty good about it, I just hope I don't come back to this thread in 3 years regretting this post.
