quick question.... what does it mean to be on hold? is it waitlist? I applied ED and just got held. Please explain.

For ED, it probably means they will consider your file with the rest of the regular decision class.

Yes. It could be different for a specific school, but generally it means that they are holding your application to compare with the RD applicants before they make a decision, rather than just the ED applicants.
