Ole Miss Law (Class of 2016)
App submitted 11/5; Status checker read "Committee Review" as of 12/5. Anyone else applied/received a decision?

Re: Ole Miss Law (Class of 2016)
My status checker switched to committee review 12/5 as well, and I recieved my acceptance letter on 12/17, even though my status checker didn't switch over to decision letter mailed until Jan. 3.

Re: Ole Miss Law (Class of 2016)
I was considering the MBA route prior to law school, but I decided at the last minute to just go straight to law school. Anyway, I'm kinda late applying. I submitted on 1/23 but I am still waiting on one LOR to complete my file. So frustrating.

They're pretty slow about getting decisions out, probably because the committee does not meet as often as they should. When I was admitted, it was around the end of March.

I went complete on 1/18 do you think more decisions will be made by admitted students day on 4/5?

Re: Ole Miss Law (Class of 2016)
@deadpanic - Are you a student at Ole Miss? If so, please answer these general questions.
1. Where do most students live? Is the off student housing the norm or do most students rent a house? Also, how would you suggest finding a roommate?
2. Regarding 2L and 3L years, living in Oxford as apposed to a major city is a bit of a concern. Are students working/interning doing the school year?
3. How legit are the business regulations and appellate judicial externships? Are the participating students securing employment from said externships?
4. How far do you think Ole Miss Basketball will go in the tournament this year?
Thanks in advance. Hotty Toddy!

Re: Ole Miss Law (Class of 2016)
yeah, i go to ole miss.
1. there is a lot of student housing. it depends how far you want to be and whether you would rather be closer to the square or to the law school. with that being said, i would definitely get a roommate if possible. the 1 BRs are pretty rare and more expensive. PM if you have any specific places in mind - there are so many it is hard to give you a laundry list.
2. some students have internships throughout the year, but honestly, no, i'd say the majority are not. there are a lot of lawyers here, but they don't have a lot of openings. you just have to get kind of lucky and/or know the right people.
3. there are however, pretty good externship programs you can get credit for and get good experience. the problem is they are unlikely to lead to full-time employment post-graduation (i.e. US attorney's office doesn't even hire until you have at least 3 years of practicing law and it is a small office, D.A.'s office rarely hires because it is small and budget constraints, same for public defender). i have no clue about the business regulations deal.
4. all the way baby. hotty toddy!

Glad I'm not the only one that hasn't heard from Ole Miss yet. File complete on 1/25.

Re: Ole Miss Law (Class of 2016)
My file was completed on 1/23/13. My status changed on 3/13 to "your file is under pre-evaluation," but at the top of the page is says "your application is under review." Does anyone else's say this? Or can someone tell me if this is normal/good/bad, etc. Thanks!

In today via status checker... Sort of. Status said decision letter mailed, yet the top included a link and password to the admitted students page.

Mine was in Pre-Evaluation for a couple of days, then it went to under review and then decision was made. Good luck to you both, hopefully you'll get the good news soon!sc13 wrote:I got switched to pre-evaluation also this afternoon. Re: Ole Miss Law (Class of 2016)
I've been under pre-evaluation since 3/13. At the top of my page it says application is under review, but I'm not sure how long that has been there. Noticed it on 3/17 when I saw the pre-evaluation status for the first time. Starting to think this is bad for me.

Re: Ole Miss Law (Class of 2016)
I don't think that's bad for you. I actually sent my application in January but I waited on a single LOR for a month and a half. So that could be why my went pretty fast after everything went complete. Mine was stuck in Pre-evaluation for a while, and then it went under review, and then it said decision rendered. Also, mine really sped up over spring break, they have probably bogged down a little sense school is back in session. I wouldn't worry too much, but I know the wait is so anxious. Hopefully you'll hear very soon!msgirldsu wrote:I've been under pre-evaluation since 3/13. At the top of my page it says application is under review, but I'm not sure how long that has been there. I was little above the median lsat and a good bit above the gpa median for Ole Miss.morrissey wrote:Thanks for the luck man. Do any of y'all mind sharing your numbers?

I hope everyone gets in soon! With admitted students day (and first deposit) coming up soon I am sure they will make a push regarding rendering decisions. Good Luck all.
