What impact do you think the new Dineen Hall will have on rankings?

Eh probably not much. But the new building is an example of how deep-pocketed some of the older Syracuse alumni are, if that's any encouragementsid.bahl wrote:What impact do you think the new Dineen Hall will have on rankings?

Great point! I'm also looking forward to attending the basketball/football games for my study breaks!

Re: Syracuse co/ 2016 applicants
I was accepted to Western New England Law, Vermont Law School, Albany Law, and Syracuse Law School. I narrowed it down to Albany and Syracuse. Albany increased their offer to me from 10K to 15K merit based scholarship. Syracuse offered me an 8K need based grant. I am from the Albany area and very familiar with it. I really like Syracuse. It is ranked slightly higher and carries with it a strong name recognition and reputation. Graduates have more geographical opportunities in terms of areas of practice. Albany is a still a good school with a very strong alumni network. How strong is the Syracuse alumni network? I have until this Saturday to make up my mind. Definitely leaning towards Albany. Any advice?

I'm not positive, but I'm guessing Syracuse's alumni network is stronger than Albanys. I'm going to Cuse so I may be biased, but the Vice President went there and its name recognition carries through out the country. It may be due to the awesome sports programs, but a lot of people know Syracuse and respect it compared to Albany

I agree that Syracuse's brand power might be slightly stronger...but i wouldn't make your decision based on that alone. I interned at the Syracuse DA's office for awhile and a lot of the ADA's were Albany grads. Had a frat brother see something similar when he was interning at the New York AG's office. Obviously these are isolated incidents so take it with a grain of saltcortland55 wrote:I'm not positive, but I'm guessing Syracuse's alumni network is stronger than Albanys. I'm not talking so much about brand power, as strength of alumni network. I know that Albany has a very supportive and close knit alumni base that take care of each other. 3 years at Syracuse for me would be $108,000 in tuition alone. Albany would be $87,000 in just tuition. People do recognize Syracuse Law based on name. I have an idea of what and where I want to practice but I want to wait it out until I do my first year. Albany being located directly in the New York political center helps out a lot in that regard. I always thought that I wanted to go to a large school for any graduate studies after doing 4 years at a SUNY for undergrad but I think that name recognition and having a sports team to be proud of, does not seem to justify the nearly ticket price tuition to attend there in my humble opinion. If they could have offered me a little bit more cash I might be on their side of the fence with less than 2 days left to submit my final seat deposit.
