Yes, I visited last month. I didn't talk to anyone (because I hadn't been admitted yet and I'm shy), but I walked around.Micdiddy wrote:Have you been to Davis?

Tried this and was able to access. What would I do without TLS? Thanks for the tip!FortunaGubernans wrote:Wait! I am smart and I tried to log into the Admitted Students Website and I can!
I CAN!
Everything is great.
My friend currently attends Davis Law and she says people (peers AND professors) are really nice. The faculty, especially, try hard to remind you to cherish the camaraderie among peers and not be a gunner. Sounds like a great environment.

This is a reach school for me (I'm a splitter the other way) but I'm definitely waiting very anxiously. Went complete 1/11 (took them a month...) so still waiting evaluation. <_<

My status changed to "Decision has been mailed". And it must have just changed because I've checked it like six times today. Has the first wave begun? Does anyone know if that particular wording indicates anything (ie, they send a letter if it's a rejection and an email if it's an acceptance)?
I AM FREAKING OUT.
Now I'm going to be that crazy lady who lives in the post office and accosts mailmen headed near her street...
You only need to check Davis once a day. They update their system (once) daily at 6pm.

"Decision has been mailed". Here we go! Ditto re the concern over whether admits are emailed or snail-mailed. FYI, I submitted on 10/1 or so and have been in evaluation for about two months now. Finally good to see some movement.

Good luck! To me, it seems logical that a mailing means an acceptance packet, whereas an email would suffice for a rejection.gitguy wrote:"Decision has been mailed". Here we go! Re: Davis c/o 2016
I'm curious about what your questions are exactly that were tough. I'll have to look back, but they seemed to go into more specifics than I thought they would about certain topics. I guess I should come clean and say I read the transcript as I couldn't be there past the first 5 minutes for prior obligation. I don't know how many questions they didn't put through, but as someone who has moderated similar chats, I can see it being difficult to filter and choose the most "answerable" questions. It seemed like the moderator was at least directing more specific questions to the proper channels. The faculty answers seemed more thorough than I was expecting.Micdiddy wrote:Really? I attended the faculty chat and thought it was just them taking softball questions to boost their image. I tried asking some actually tough questions and the moderator wouldn't put any of them through.doppelganger wrote:+1FortunaGubernans wrote:Raise your hand if you would really, really like to see some movement up in here.
Did anyone else attend the faculty chat? It made me even more sure that this is the right place for me (if only admissions would realize ) And can anyone tell me about their personal experiences with alumni, campus, or surrounding area?
Stay strong, fellow waiters, stay strong
Anyway, despite that annoyance, the city of Davis is fantastic. It's beautiful, everyone is really, really nice and there are many great restaurants and ongoing events (tons of pub quiz nights, some local shows, the occasional cafe concert, on campus events, etc.).
The campus is similarly amazing though King's Hall itself is underwhelming. Shield's Library is fantastic and the law school comes with its own separate library as well just for law students.
So, when it comes to location I cannot recommend Davis highly enough. As for the school I have known some alumni who loved it and found good jobs, and some who told me "GO TO THE BEST SCHOOL YOU CAN AND FORGET DAVIS," obviously that advice is numbers based, for some people Davis IS the best school they can get into.
As someone with numbers that may get me into a t14, but who wants to work in Sacramento after graduation, I am still torn as to whether Davis, or somewhere else, is right for me. I guess, I need to get in first! Still awaiting evaluation
Or perhaps I am just excited about what I already know about Davis and how it applies to my situation and career needs. Yeah, I'm a fangirl and I've said as much earlier in the thread If I didn't have the obligations and considerations that I do, I might be willing to live anywhere and go to the highest ranking school that I am accepted to. The only problem is the highest ranking school that has sent me the most information and invitations doesn't teach the things I'm wanting to learn about or seem to offer the kinds of opportunities that Davis does (on paper).
Maybe it's just the friendly responsiveness from the admissions office that is creating a rosier-than-deserved lens? Interested in your thoughts about Davis Law and Davis in general.

Re: Davis c/o 2016
I didn't mean to detract entirely from the school itself. I did apply after all and want to get in. I just thought the chat itself was "playing to our strengths." In retrospect, my specific question may not have been best geared towards those professors anyway, so that's certainly an excuse not to offer it, and in general it was an "information seminar" so wanting to just elaborate on certain programs, etc. seems like a worthy use of time. I think I was simply frustrated because I wanted it to be something different and felt like I was being ignored (even my, "hi from Davis!" statement were censored, but this is irrational paranoia on my part).
Ironically, King Hall is what made me want to apply to law school in the first place, but then I got numbers good enough for t14 and prob just got jaded. When all is said and done, if I do end up going to King Hall I will still consider it a success. Davis the city is certainly a reasonable place to be crazy about, it's awesome.

Good luck to everyone who's gone into evaluation!
I kinda wonder though if how they choose apps to go into evaluation is random or something, becasue I keep seeing some people who went complete later than other people go into review earlier. (tl;dr: I hope they didn't forget about me! lol)
