Penn State (Dickinson) 2012-13 applicants
Applied, getting a thread going. Haven't received a status checker or confirmation at all and it's been about a week since I applied, is this normal for Penn St.?

I've been under review since 11/27 so I'm hoping that I'm in this first group of decisions this week!

Re: Penn State (Dickinson) 2012-13 applicants
Accepted with an insanely generous scholarship! Penn State is now only about ~2.5k more than my top choice. I may actually have to do some thinking and make a real decision! Eek!! My big concern is the major upheaval (splitting up the campuses) that Penn State is going to be going through over the next few years. I'll probably decide against it in the end because of that. I'd love the chance to take a tour of one or both campuses but that's difficult from down in Texas. Best of luck to all other applicants!!

Also accepted today. It looks like the school will be generous with scholarships; I received $35k/year with 162/3.9. Congrats to all the other admits!

I received a 30k/yr scholarship from them. Any idea if I could negotiate to full? I looked at scholarship stats last year and 67% received 60000/yr with my numbers (164/3.68)

Accepted today via status checker and email. $15,000 Dean Scholly. I will be withdrawing in the near future, just going to try to use this package as a potential bargaining chip.

Re: Penn State (Dickinson) 2012-13 applicants
Accepted, but received a very low scholarship offer.
What is shocking about PSU is that they offer zero discount to Pennsylvania residents. PSU is similar to Temple and Pitt (state funded institutions, not state schools), yet Temple is half the price of PSU for PA residents and is a better law school.
The only reason I am even considering PSU is I am an Alumnus of PSU. For those who have never been to PSU (University Park campus) it is an amazing place. PSU has a tremendous campus and the Law School is brand new. Looks great on the outside (never been inside). The Law School is sort of detached from the undergraduate portion of campus so you don't have to worry about undergrads causing problems and using the law building. The only knock on PSU (university park campus) is it is hundreds of miles away from any legit city. Pittsburgh is 3 hours away and Philly is 3.5 hours away. I have no idea what they do with finding the law school students internships. I would assume PSU would be at a disadvantage finding internships in big cities.

When checking on your status check, do you think it is a good sign that under fees there is a first and second deposit? Only says 0.00 though. Most of my other status checkers that are still complete or in review do not have that, so I wasn't sure if this was the same for everyone.
Thanks!

Each school uses the status checker differently. Generally speaking, those seat deposit fields don't mean anything (good or bad). A quick search on TLS would show dozens of other kids asking the same question.Mabreen wrote:When checking on your status check, do you think it is a good sign that under fees there is a first and second deposit? Yes I have found this question often. Just wondered if anyone had insight for this particular school. Thanks for the answer!WhiteyCakes wrote:Each school uses the status checker differently. I see that the sticker price is 39,000. My scholarship only covers 35,000; I assume their is still room? I have yet to send out any emails, but are they typically welcoming to negotiation?nodice410 wrote:1L at carlisle here to answer any questions
I still have yet to receive my acceptance letter, I can't seem to find their scholarship stipulations, can you enlighten me?
Which campus are you on? Do you feel like an UG at University Park? Though, now that I think of it, I am sure you run into a lot of Grad students as well?
On campus or off-campus housing? Price differences, quality of life?
Thanks for your time!

Just withdrew my application and 35k/yr. Hoping someone else who plans on attending can get a scholarship now! Best of luck to everyone.

I am a late applicant. Went under review last week. Anyone know the chances of being admitted this late or about how long it takes after going under review?
