Just curious, when is the first seat deposit due? I have not gotten a decision yet (and I know acceptance is a long shot for me) but I hate to rule SMU out until they actually tell me no. I hope that I will hear something soon, and figure that more decisions will come out after the first deposit is due.

I think we have similar situations here, did you apply FT, PT, or both?

Originally I applied for FT but I changed it to both a few weeks ago.

I also applied both, and would be ecstatic with either offer. I really just want to go there, but I know the odds aren't with me.

Decided I am going to go ahead and put my deposit down to reserve the spot so I have a good Texas school on which to fall back.

blue folder came with scholly ...im going to SMU. Gonna be hard withdrawing from some other schools, but im glad the wait is over.....and this is going to be less stressful on the family ...see you guys there...and to the people who are still waiting...dont lose hope!! they dont update very often, but when they do, you get your answer quickly. Hopefully, you guys can some answers as soon as people are forced to choose (ie deposit date)

Neither, really. More conservative than Berkeley, but not overwhelmingly so either way. And it shouldn't matter one bit regardless.

Congrats to all who have been accepted. I'm in the group who's eagerly waiting. I went complete 2/26 and status checker hasn't changed since.

I did email them this past week, and asked if they could give me any update. I let them know that I have been complete since 2/26, and I just wanted to know if I was still complete or was I under review and status checker had not been updated. They responded "You are still in review."

I don't know how to take that. "Still" would imply that I have been in review status. According to status checker, I have only ever been in complete status. So do they mean that I am still complete, or am I actually in review? I'm not asking you guys. I'm thinking this in my head. Hopefully there will be a load of updates after the first deposit deadline has passed.

A lot of schools will change your status from complete to in review or whatever. Well not SMU, it's complete straight to decision. In my case I applied early(September), and it stayed complete all the way until the end of January where it changed to held for further review. That status still remains.

Do your status checkers say "complete" or "completeD"? Mine went "complete" on 1/7 and changed to "completeD" on 1/16. Admitted 3/22.

FWIW I am aware of several people admitted last year after being held. Best of luck! Hopefully another round of decisions will come out after the 1st.

New LST data is out, I think employment data from SMU looks pretty impressive, better than his peer schools.

SMU school funded job is almost zero, while other school like BC, BU, UCLA is close to 10%.

I'm still "Application Completed", due to a missing transcript being sent late and the physical copies taking forever to reach SMU, but I called yesterday and was told not to worry about the deposit if I were accepted late. I'm waiting on SMU still after getting a nice scholarship offer from Baylor, but I would much rather go to SMU at the end of the day and am hoping I hear back from them shortly.

Pardon my naivete, but at this point in the admissions process what is the difference between "held for further review" and "application completed"? I know the distinction is quite clear concerning the status checker for most other schools, but from what I hear on here, it seems that it isn't unusual for SMU to render a decision straight from "app completed".

I applied early. So instead of rendering a decision in the early cycle, my app got held to the regular to be considered with those.
