I also applied both, and would be ecstatic with either offer. I really just want to go there, but I know the odds aren't with me.zachwooldridge wrote:crchildress wrote:I think we have similar situations here, did you apply FT, PT, or both?zachwooldridge wrote:Just curious, when is the first seat deposit due? I have not gotten a decision yet (and I know acceptance is a long shot for me) but I hate to rule SMU out until they actually tell me no. I hope that I will hear something soon, and figure that more decisions will come out after the first deposit is due.
Originally I applied for FT but I changed it to both a few weeks ago.

Decided I am going to go ahead and put my deposit down to reserve the spot so I have a good Texas school on which to fall back.

Does SMU Dedman lean more conservative or more liberal?
Any insight on this?

Neither, really. More conservative than Berkeley, but not overwhelmingly so either way. And it shouldn't matter one bit regardless.Sky wrote:Does SMU Dedman lean more conservative or more liberal?

Re: SMU c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
Congrats to all who have been accepted. I'm in the group who's eagerly waiting. I went complete 2/26 and status checker hasn't changed since.
I did email them this past week, and asked if they could give me any update. I let them know that I have been complete since 2/26, and I just wanted to know if I was still complete or was I under review and status checker had not been updated. They responded "You are still in review."
I don't know how to take that. "Still" would imply that I have been in review status. According to status checker, I have only ever been in complete status. So do they mean that I am still complete, or am I actually in review? I'm not asking you guys. I'm thinking this in my head. Hopefully there will be a load of updates after the first deposit deadline has passed.

I know you aren't asking or anything, I thought I would comment though. SMU is weird when it comes to updates and the status checker. A lot of schools will change your status from complete to in review or whatever. Well not SMU, it's complete straight to decision. In my case I applied early(September), and it stayed complete all the way until the end of January where it changed to held for further review. That status still remains.grenades13 wrote:Congrats to all who have been accepted. I'm in the group who's eagerly waiting. I went complete 2/26 and status checker hasn't changed since.

I see what you mean, now that I've read through most of this post. I figure they would have rejected me by now if I had no shot. I'm holding on to some hope that a spot opens up for me. Good luck to you! Hope we both get some good news soon.crchildress wrote:I know you aren't asking or anything, I thought I would comment though. Do your status checkers say "complete" or "completeD"? Mine went "complete" on 1/7 and changed to "completeD" on 1/16. Admitted 3/22.crchildress wrote:That's exactly what I keep telling myself. FWIW I am aware of several people admitted last year after being held. Best of luck! Hopefully another round of decisions will come out after the 1st.crchildress wrote:Mine says held for further review.

New LST data is out, I think employment data from SMU looks pretty impressive, better than his peer schools.
http://www.lstscorereports.com/?school=smu
SMU school funded job is almost zero, while other school like BC, BU, UCLA is close to 10%.

Mine is still the exact same as yours. And I expect it to stay that way at least for a couple more weeks.JBCIV wrote:Anyone see their status change today...I'm still held for further review status date 01/28/2013

I'm still "Application Completed", due to a missing transcript being sent late and the physical copies taking forever to reach SMU, but I called yesterday and was told not to worry about the deposit if I were accepted late. I'm waiting on SMU still after getting a nice scholarship offer from Baylor, but I would much rather go to SMU at the end of the day and am hoping I hear back from them shortly.maxmartin wrote:maybe it is a good time to send in a LOCI since we just passed first deposit date

Pardon my naivete, but at this point in the admissions process what is the difference between "held for further review" and "application completed"? I know the distinction is quite clear concerning the status checker for most other schools, but from what I hear on here, it seems that it isn't unusual for SMU to render a decision straight from "app completed".

I applied early. So instead of rendering a decision in the early cycle, my app got held to the regular to be considered with those.Okie Dokie wrote:Pardon my naivete, but at this point in the admissions process what is the difference between "held for further review" and "application completed"?
