I believe that in this thread they stated the lower amounts for 2L and 3L were because you'd have instate residency and a lower tuition at that point.

It's still more expensive if you don't get an additional scholarship. I have no asked people about their scholarships so I have no idea. I got like 2k from them, I think.

And this makes sense. A student would rather have 16k, 4k, 4k, then 8k, 8k, 8k. Time value of money / less interest.

There was someone earlier who took the drop in money as a slight. It's quite the opposite.

Edit-- also, according to Dean Weiser, tuition is locked in now based on what you pay 1L.

Just got a very nice and polite email about the WL status.
TBH emails like these always make me think better of schools who give a little more of a personal touch. Class A act UC

That e-mail sounded very encouraging, no? Or was that a pretty generic waitlist email?

Sounded like a generic e-mail inviting people to send LOCI's. Probably just gauging who's interested.

Jones have you ever been to Colorado? Don't get me wrong, I think everyone should come to CU and be an attorney out west, but I get the sneaking suspicion you will withdraw the day after you get admitted!

Come for a visit and you'll attend after you get admitted, promise.

Yea I got the same one. I feel like I want to reach out again but I've already sent in my LOCI and updated with another LOR. I just wish I knew what else to do :/ but I guess we'll all find out soon

I'm so torn. Increasingly I do not want to leave this glorious state.

I am having the hardest time deciding between U of Houston and CU Boulder! Amount of $$ offered by both schools are pretty much the same %tuition wise.
Any advice?

Apparently I mistakenly pressed the "new topic" button instead of the "post reply" button, but I meant to pose this question here:

Anyone have any thoughts on living in Denver and commuting to Boulder? I had almost given up on CU until they recently contacted me with a scholarship offer. Now that I'm on the verge of choosing CU over DU, I wanted to make sure the commute really is doable, particularly by bus. How common is this among law students?

I'm pretty sure I posted about this already ITT. I've only ever done the commute to downtown daily for an internship, and I thought it was real easy. I rode the bus everyday and it was great. During the school year, it's even better if you can convince yourself to actually work on the bus. So yes, it's quite easy, I'd guess about 15-20% of our class lives in Denver, but I'm totally pulling that number out of my ass. I don't know anything about you, but I'd prefer to be in Boulder 1L if possible. The people who lived in Denver during 1L were usually people with good reason (owned a house, so's job, etc.) rather than just preferring Denver. After 1L, a number moved for just preferring Denver and needing to be down there for internships anyway.

Visit both. The Houston metro and the Denver metro could not be more different.

UH is obviously better for Texas, but I've had pretty good success with the CU alumni network in Texas. I think CU ---> Texas is doable. PM for if you'd like details.

Really wish I could attend the open house! I was (pleasantly) surprised when I was accepted yesterday. I'd love to hear opinions if anyone goes tomorrow.

Anyone knows how WL candidates are being contacted? I'm overseas for at least the next month and maybe until Aug and was wondering if they call or email.
thanks!

Great. I'll be the one limping around with my dad. It's pretty warm today, looking forward to tomorrow...and then 70 on Saturday :)

I decided to attend CU and sent in my seat deposit a couple days ago. I wasn't initially offered a scholarship but I called and emailed until they came through with 16k. I told them I had a scholarship to Houston and was going to pay seat deposits to both schools because the only thing holding me back from committing to CU was not having a scholarship. They asked how much I got to Houston, when they're deadline was, and said they would try to let me know before then. Got the email 2 days later. Hope that gives some of you hope in that they respond to showing interest.

It was really well done. Probably the best open house I've been to. The school is absolutely gorgeous, and in true Colorado fashion everyone was incredibly friendly. Dean Weiser was great and made rounds with everyone. Though even after the open house I'm still undecided.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
