Dang. I got 10k and then after ranking high post-1L got 10k for rank and was told I'd lose the original 10k because it was need based and with the new schollys I didn't need the first 10k anymore... (Just to say, if you don't get $$$ you aren't the only one.)

(Also note: original LSAT 165, hate you games section)

Congrats to the admits :)

Aw man, that's not really rewarding you for your rank if the overall amount stays the same. They should have let you keep both.

Just to clarify, my Hastings aid package last year was $30k in need and a $45k Chancellor Scholarship.

On average, do ECO admits get any aid? I have some pretty dreadful stats so I feel like it's not likely.

I second this question. Because of a unique situation I applied ECO and have basically slightly above median stats. I'm hoping they don't preclude me from merit aid simply cause they think I'm going to attend no matter what.

I applied eco but just received an email stating that I have been waitlisted. Has this happened to anyone else? I thought that if you weren't selected for eco you were considered for rd.

I know this wasn't the outcome you wanted, but this info may make you feel better: when I spoke w/ CL at admissions he said they were likely to make more admit or deny decisions this year as opposed to prior years. (It does seem like based on lsn & this forum in prior years they did a lot of deferring to rd). So, waitlist is preferable to denial. Calling to communicate your continued interest, ask questions, etc. might be good & would also keep your name floating around. Best of luck!

Me as well. Also, I got a really nice voice mail from the assistant dean of admissions. He incorporated info from my application and was very personal. Made me feel special for getting in, cool feeling.
I got a phone call from the admissions office this morning. Definitely liked the nice personal touch and it was cool catching up with them as well.

Yes. Most people, including ECOs get aid. Keep in mind though that Northern California schools are not known for giving out much financial aid. (I guess, they figure the good weather here is an equivalent non-financial form of aid.) While you will probably get something, it probably won't be equivalent to what East Coast schools give out.

For those who have been accepted, does your email link work for payment site to bind your admission?

For what it's worth, I applied the regular admissions cycle and got my acceptance phone call in late January of last year. Best of luck to all of you! My quick 2 cents: Hastings is a great place ... I think very highly of my classmates, the profs, and staff here. The location is not the best but I'm definitely happy I got in.
I almost didn't apply here because I heard how ferociously competitive the school is.. is this true?

People work very hard, but I do not find it competitive in the way people talk about it in rumors. Everyone is generally friendly and helpful.

We've touched on this and other subjects here. I recommend browsing the thread and learning more about Hastings if you have any questions or hesitations.

Hey all,

I got in ED as I posted earlier.
My stats were pretty median-ish. 163/3.5 but with two years work experience in a molecular biology lab and good letters.

I grew up in SF and knew I wanted my career to be there.

What do you all think our class size will be?

They are decreasing enrollment by 20% but, we'll see what that means.

Class of 2014 had around 400, Class of 2015 had around 300. I spoke to a fellow admit whose father is an alumn, he thinks that the class will be something around 250-275. If this is the case, this will mean better job prospects for all of us.

I wonder if it will effect big law placement at all?

I can't find a link to it, but the strategic plan published by Hastings in 2011 said that they plan to keep future 1L enrollment at 320 (four sections of 80) for future classes. This year's 1L class is ~320, but Hastings continues to recruit more exchange, LLM, and MSL students. I would expect next year's 1L class to be ~320 as well, with larger LLM and MSL cohorts.
