If you are referring to the wait-list email, then this is actually quite the contrary. The email's instructions stated to send a quickly reply to the message if you were still interested. It would seem exceptionally overzealous and unprofessional to not follow those instructions. Additionally, seeing as how the school has wait-listed a incredible amount of applicants, it's understandable that they may have not sent the confirmation email to everyone yet. A little patience might be okay here.

It was in reference to my particular situation where I contacted Dean Richard 2 weeks ago and haven't heard back. The out of the office reply message some people got today sounds like the one I received 2 weeks ago, and I was confused what I should do because I didn't interpret the wording to mean that I should reach out to her again. I agree calling in reference to the mass email would be annoying. I think I'll call Monday if I reach out to them at all

Also, in the mass email does the wording "by" the first week of May mean some offers will come before May/is that typical?

I am in total shock y'all I just got admitted!! I definitely suggest touring if you really want in, and telling them its your first choice (if it is)!

When you toured did you send in a LOCI about it or meet with admissions?

I send in a LOCI in January then went for a class visit and tour in February. Before the tour Dean Richards came by and I told her I was a waitlisted student and she offered to meet with me after the tour and we talked for a bit. She told me to contact her in late March/early April which I did, then on Wednesday Jason Dugas (who the LOCI went to originally) contacted me to ask if I was still interested so he could present my application. So I met with admissions but did not send an updated LOCI about it, although I did send a snail mail thank you card a month later

I toured this past friday and got to talk to mr. dugas then. I had to go request to visit with him. Got to talk to him for like 15 minutes after which he told me there was a "good chance" i would be offered admission.
This morning I sent in a second LOCI (the first, i sent in immediately after the waitlist email) to dean richards pretty much putting into writing everything i said in the mini interview. I mentioned how UVA is a perfect fit and I would immediately accept an offer of admission if they were to give me one. (I think these two things are really important for them to hear). an hour later i got the "call me" email from dugas and he told me I was in!

im sending in my deposit tomorrow!

Is there any sense that merit aid will be available to those who get in off the waitlist? It seems that for YP purposes, once an offer is made it's in UVA's interest to ensure WL'd folks matriculate. Any idea if this has held up in the past/will this year?

I think the assumption is that for those coming off the WL UVA will be the best ("highest ranked") option you have thus no need for $.

Eta: This might not necessarily be the case for those who are legit YPed with numbers at or above median. But it looks like many of the folks here are below one or both medians so likely little to no $.

Hope the fact the fact that reverse splitters are being shown love doesn't mean there's little hope for splitters.. could be a sign that they need to bring up the GPA more than the LSAT right now.
