Yep it's pretty much standard protocol. When did you send your letter?

Sorry I just saw you said today so nvm. I sent mine last Monday and haven't heard a peep. I hope I hear soon! While Drexel is on of my very top choices, I'd like to know before next week when some deposits are due

They are trying to have all decisions made by April 1.cnk wrote:i'm still waiting to hear back from drexel. app sent in 11/19/2012, and just updated again to complete 3/25/13. at this point, i'm not even considering them anymore.

Yeah, that isn't a good sign. I sent my application in right around that time and heard back within a week.cnk wrote:i'm still waiting to hear back from drexel. app sent in 11/19/2012, and just updated again to complete 3/25/13. at this point, i'm not even considering them anymore.

cnk,
maybe you should go to an ASD before you count them out (Although I dont know if they have any coming up soon) . They may reimburse you for your travels (if you are a ways away). The ASD really got me pulled in. If not, maybe plan a visit to see the school and sit in on a class. Its worth a shot I suppose. Best of luck to you.

Has anyone heard back about their scholarship negotiation letters? I sent mine almost 2 weeks ago and have not heard anything. Not even an acknowledgment email. It makes me wonder if they received it. any of you who have heard back wait this long?

Did anyone look at the ABA 2012 employment data? Drexel and Villanova pretty much had the same employment stats, and Temple had a slight margin. The graduates who had full time, long term work from Drexel and Villanova was 61% while Temple had 70%. Biglaw is literally a crapshoot from any of the schools though.
If anything, it's a little reassuring to people who think Drexel Law has a place in Philly.

Isn't Drexel's class size much smaller than both Temple and Nova? If so, the percentage shouldn't be that much of a factor.

Re: Drexel c/o 2016 (2012-2013)
Yeah significantly smaller, but I think that is why you should consider percentages. If a law school placed 150 of its 300 graduates into full-time work, while another school placed 70 of its 100 graduates into full-time work, you couldn't say that the former school has better employment stats.
I guess if you are just considering the sheer number of Temple or Nova grads who enter the workforce every year, then yeah don't factor the percentages.

Re: Drexel c/o 2016 (2012-2013)
I'm a couple days late on posting here, but wanted to mention that I went to ASD last Saturday and loved it. The faculty, current students, and alumni were amazingly helpful and genuine; they patiently answered all of my questions and I didn't feel that they were putting on a show for me in order to get my tuition $$$. Yes, there was a rather large emphasis on the "experiential learning" aspect of Earle Mack, but that is what I love about the school and one of the many reasons why I will be attending this fall.
Regarding scholarships, a few weeks before ASD I requested a scholarship using a comparable offer from Pace University as leverage. Pace offered $14k, Drexel responded with $10k. After ASD, Drexel voluntarily upped my offer to $15k. Awesome. I note that my GPA and LSAT score are nothing to write home about, so I am incredibly grateful for what amounts to a 40% scholarship. I am not worried about the 2.95 stip, because my belief is that if I cannot remain in the top 50% of my class, then I do not belong in law school.
Hope everyone else has had similarly positive experiences with Drexel.

Nice. I'm on the fence between Drexel and Nova.
I personally felt like it was a show... especially with the mock class and that current student panel. I also was not too impressed with the facilities. Although it is fairly new, I felt it was really small and tight, with not many places to just relax and study; it definitely looks more impressive from the outside.
Congrats on your decision though.

Yeah I thought the facilities were pretty lame for how "new" the building is supposed to be. The mock courtroom was pretty awful, and it definitely looks a lot more spacious from the outside. Especially with the large glass panel windows.Lumieres wrote:Nice. I'm on the fence between Drexel and Nova.

Not yet, I'm sitting in on a class on Weds and sitting down with an admissions officer to discuss some last minute questions I have. If all goes well, I'll put my deposit in on Weds.wcphillies12 wrote:Did anyone send in seat deposits yet?

I haven't placed my seat deposit yet but probably will be later in the week.
I received my financial aid info today and my new scholarship $$$ was included. I would contact the admissions offices immediately.
Another ASD, I wonder what they are doing? I will be on vacation so I will not be able to attend that.

Possibly...
Still waiting on one more school, but I'll probably wait until Monday if I do deposit.
