People who live in Miami don't appreciate it as much as visitors do.

Looking into this Wells Fargo private loan thing that might make things cheaper. Still need scholarship increase, but with that, over a 20 year term, while the overall debt is larger, the monthly payments are much smaller at around $700.
That could be bearable.

5.94%. No fee. Requires a co-signer, but my parents are more than interested. Interest also can be tax-deductible.cusenation wrote:How's the interest?Presidentjlh wrote:Looking into this Wells Fargo private loan thing that might make things cheaper. Biggest concern isn't the overall debt, it's the monthly payments. More debt but with lighter payments is easier to take on.

I know. Overall debt would be rough, 179k, but you only have $748 a month in payments.lhanvt13 wrote:wow that's not bad at all ?Presidentjlh wrote:5.94%. No fee. That link says you don't need a co-signer. But damn... Do u think it would be a safe bet to gamble on the variable rate?lhanvt13 wrote: --LinkRemoved--

Loan Term: 20 years
Minimum Payment: $50.00
Degree Program: Lawyer (LLB or JD)
Monthly Loan Payment: $748.62
Number of Payments: 241

That's if I can get my scholarship upped to 30k a year. Again, huge amount of debt, but, I could live with that, especially if one assumes their pay increases as they get more experience. I calculated the expected value of a WUSTL legal education.
137 people are in private law firms, 51 corporate from the class of 2012 out of 300 The median private-sector salary is high at 100k, so let's be more realistic, say, 80k. PI, Gov't, and clerkships are 25+33+16 = 74 out of 300. Median public is probably 50k
80k*.627 + 50k*.246 = $62460 = expected value.

But from everything I heard about private student loans is that that the interest can change at any given minute and spike like crazy according to the bank's wish. I don't know, I'd rather pay some more and sign on for grad plus on whatever I can't get from the reg student loans. I was told I can take on 22K, but I don't know if it's the same sum for everyone.
EDIT: plus, Suzi Orman says not to take private student loans!!!!
