Wow, you sound incredibly similar to my profile (though lower LSAT and higher GPA) and went into review same day as me. Fingers crossed.

Did you apply for FT or PT?

Also went under review on 2/7. Applied on a fee wavier but I'm seriously considering here after checking it out some more!

I currently live outside of the perimeter on the southside. I plan on moving closer to school sometime this summer, and am going apartment hunting next week. Anybody have any suggestions for complex's in the Inman park, Virginia Highlands, Old 4th Ward area?

I live in Inman Park and can give some suggestions. I would start with "apartment row" on N Highland between Colquitt and and Washita. If you're looking for something newer, check out the lofts closer to downtown on Highland by Barcelona, Pure, Parish, etc.

Don't know too much about specific O4W units, but do have a friend who lived at Highland Walk at the corner of Highland and Sampson across from Highland Bakery, and she liked it there.

As far as Virginia-Highland, there are a TON of small apartment buildings/duplexes on the southern end of neighborhood bounded by Ponce de Leon Ave, Ponce de Leon Pl, Briarcliff, and Virginia. They tend to cluster on the southern end of that area, so I'd take a weekend to drive around and write down some numbers. Don't totally write off the northern end either. While there aren't really any buildings or duplexes up there, a lot of homeowners have carriage houses/attached apartments that they are renting. I'd include it in your drive.

If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the info. what's the rent like around "apartment row"? I found a place around the lindbergh station for ~700 a month all in for a 1br and I'd be happy to stay farther out to save money, but if I could move closer and stay around there that would be pretty awesome.

I'm not sure what the other buildings on the row are like, but mine is $825/month for 1 BR, water and gas included.

I'll probably be headed out of town, but there are several great loft-style options in O4W on Ralph McGill Blvd, including Amli Parkside and Block Lofts. If I could choose where to live in Atlanta over again, I would probably pick that area. (Great loft style housing in Inman Park too, but more expensive there than in O4W)

Like I said in my earlier post, I was in the Decatur/Emory area and I loved it. I spent time going out in Highlands/Little 5 Points/Candler Park and other little communities in that area. If I decide to go here I will try really hard to live somewhere walking or biking distance to a MARTA rail stop. I lived in downtown Decatur last fall and it was so convenient. You could be to campus in 20 minutes. Parking at GSU is relatively easy but $3-$5 a day (traffic is the bigger issue). There is panther parking pass if you're parking 5 days a week, that can save money. And MARTA has student discounts if you're using it enough to make it worthwhile. There is also free parking at most MARTA stops.

I really think it is possible to find a decent apartment for $500. Just not in V. Highlands. I also think that you're in the $600-$800 range if you want to live alone almost anywhere in the parts of town we are talking about. This https://housing.emory.edu/off-campus/home.cfm is a great sight and better regulated than craigslist for Atlanta housing.

Any more q's I am available.

This is exactly the kind of resource I was looking for, thanks a lot!

Have I just been out of the loop or has no one else heard anything about any admitted student's days or receptions yet either?

You're not the only one. I want to go visit but I work 9-5 and you couldn't pay me enough money to drive out to Atlanta before 9 or after 5pm.

Hey guys! Applied on 2/10, went into preliminary review on 2/14 with no updates since. I've got a lower LSAT and undergrad GPA than most but soft credentials far beyond most applicants. I'm just waiting for the school that's going to see past the numbers! Here's to hoping that school is GSU!
All the best to those who have already been accepted!

In years past it seems like the end of march is the earliest people hear back from GSU about scholarships.

Even sticker it's my lowest COA of any school I'd go to, so I'm good either way.

completed 2/5

preliminary review 2/11

pending 2nd review 3/1

I'm a resident of the area and did my undergrad here. Obviously an ideal choice for me. Hoping to hear back before I reach the seat retainer deadline for schools I've been accepted to.

Good stuff. I'm really hoping that ALSF comes through, but I'm relieved to at least know I'm good to go financial wise for this year at least.

Stopped by GSU on saturday to visit, from what I hear it sounds like they are building a new law school. Anyone heard anything about this? Also, received my packet in the mail on Saturday.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
