Oops. *In review 1/6 accepted 1/10. Not great numbers for GSU, but I did do a few visits in the summer and pretty pro-active with contacting them.JARZJR wrote:If it only took them 4 days to decide on you you must have pretty decent #s...shaynislegend wrote:If I remember correctly I went complete 1/6/13 and accepted 1/10/13 and I don't remember there being a step between complete-in review-acceptance.JARZJR wrote:Did my UG at State...
3.46, 157... URM...
Wrote the Feb test, so my application didn't go under prelim review until 3/8/2013... And thats still the status... Can anyone give me an estimate of the timeline of their review and acceptance/rejection process?
Got an email saying they will be accepting june tests, lol... Thats unheard of... Does that mean they are having trouble filling the class due to low application numbers?
As for June test acceptance, I noticed a lot of lower ranked schools doing this but haven't seen it with the upper tier, kinda concerning (?)
Still deciding between GSU and a few other schools, I went down there a few weeks ago just to walk around, and the law building is in shambles but from what I understand the new building will be very nice.

EDIT: NVM, found it on the Check Your Application Status page. (Duh!)
Good event though, any event with free beer is ok with me.

Haha no worries. I thought it was a good event, especially the Dean's last "trajectory" speech.scruffy556 wrote:Saw you there, just didn't feel like saying "oh hay i'm that dude from the internet"hammertime10 wrote:Thanks looking forward to it. I had a great time last night at the brief encounter. Apparently didn't do a good job of TLS spotting, but the food was good and I really enjoyed speaking with the professors and recent alums. I'm looking pretty seriously at UGA, but GSU did a pretty darn good job of selling itself!

Re: Georgia State (2012-2013)
Did you take the dean up on his offer to get an "honest" assessment of which school has the better deal for you? I asked dr. Jester-George some pretty serious questions about them extending the LSAT and application deadlines and got satisfying answers, but since gsu is the only school I'm looking at I couldn't really find out if the dean was serious about that.fragrock wrote:I had a great time last night at the brief encounter. Hey everybody! I was recently accepted to GA State and am most likely attending. I was wondering if anyone out there had any advice about apartments in Atlanta? I would like somewhere that is not too expensive but still in a safe area and liveable. Thanks!

I live in Cabbagetown and love it. Right around the corner from GSU.Jessia123 wrote:Hey everybody! I was recently accepted to GA State and am most likely attending. Thanks, I don't think I've heard of that so it's definitely something I can look into.

Deciding on a place to live is definitely becoming a pretty nerve racking decision. At least there's plenty of time still.

Here's a (very simplistic) neighborhood map for reference.Jessia123 wrote:Thanks, I don't think I've heard of that so it's definitely something I can look into.

I originally wasn't that interested in a roomate, but it's starting to look like that's going to be the more realistic option.
Haven't had one in years, but gotta do what you gotta do.

Yep! All the one bedrooms I've looked at are pretty expensive, so that's probably the route I'm going to have to go.

Re: Georgia State (2012-2013)
As far as neighborhoods to be considering, I would suggest Midtown, anywhere between Virginia Highlands and Inman Park, and maybe Cabbagetown. Also, some students choose to live in Buckhead to be closer to that scene. 1 BR's do not come super cheap (although they aren't outrageously expensive - you pay a premium to live alone), but renting a house with classmates or other roommates is a viable option, especially in the VAH-Inman Park areas. Also, some of the places worth renting (i.e. newer, a step up from basement-level undergrad standards) in Midtown and Cabbagetown might be a little more expensive, as they are newer, have gates/parking garages, indoor hallways, etc. That's not to say they're not worth it - just pointing it out. The people I do know who live in Cabbagetown like being walking distance from school. However, I commute and have no problems.

Me too! And when I emailed them yesterday, this was the response: Decisions are expected to be rendered by April 15th. Continue to check your status online for updates regarding your application.Rasaus wrote:I have been in preliminary review since March 8th
So I responded by gently reminding that deposits are due and she reiterated that decisions will be rendered by 4/15.
I live in GA and have had the worst admissions experiences with the schools here. Prob will not be staying here..

Re: Georgia State (2012-2013)
Yah when I called they said I should have a decision by 6-8 weeks and then when I told her about the seat deposit she responded by saying they would extend the deadline for those admitted after the 15th. LOL but we are obviously going to put a deposit at another school we have been accepted to...*sigh* I don't know if I will end up going to GSU if accepted since I would be an out of state student and although the tuition isn't horrible, it is still off-putting.arodasi wrote:Me too! Admissions and Financial aid communication has been miserable. With that said I will be withdrawing this weekend. Best of luck to you all.arodasi wrote:I live in GA and have had the worst admissions experiences with the schools here.
