Went complete and ready for review on Monday (11-12).
Anyone else applying here, and where are y'all at in the process?

Also went complete on Monday. Went to undergrad here and GSU is high on my list simply because its so cheap. Is it your #1 choice?

It's my first realistic choice. I would love to spend some time in Athens, but I don't think my numbers are there.Marath0n wrote:Also went complete on Monday. Went to undergrad here and GSU is high on my list simply because its so cheap. Is it your #1 choice?
I've talked a good bit with folks at GSU, and I'm definitely excited about the idea of going there as well. Living in Atlanta not so much, but I figure if I want to work there I better be able to adjust to going to school there as well.

Re: Georgia State (2012-2013)
I just didn't like the feeling of being at a commuter school, and I've heard that the law school is more of the same. I would rather have a closer knit community.
Atlanta can be amazing, but it has its down side. Traffic and safety being two big concerns. I got tired of it pretty quick.

I applied, but would only really consider it if they gave me one of the tuition waivers (currently OOS).

My biggest questions/concerns are whether the commuter culture is as strong in the law school as it is with the under graduate school, or do you have more connection and interaction with your colleagues? Also how hard is it to find reasonable housing in Atlanta? Reasonable meaning affordable/close to Marta/ safe.

Hey! Thanks for taking questions!! Is it true that GSU Law is primarily a commuter school? Is there any sense of community at all?oxeatheman wrote:GSU 1L here, happy to answer any questions about GSU to the best of my ability.

I'm eager to hear the answer. I graduated GSU for my BS but truly loved the school. Some of my best friends (I met them at GSU) were also commuter classmates and all of us worked full time and went to school full time at night. We did not lack community so I hope the law school is the same or better at creating that sense of attachment. The profs I had were top notch-a couple taught at Emory during the day and GSU at night. In Biosciences we had several from the CDC teaching. I'm applying this cycle and would go back in an instant even though Atlanta and the whole metro area is a challenge. Totally worth it.

They updated my status today (11.29) to say that I've been on Preliminary Review since.... (11.20).... so it looks like I won't be making the first cut and now I'll be headed for committee review =/

Also in preliminary review. I take it that if we aren't accepted soon, we wouldn't hear anything until after the new year when the committee starts to make decisions. So hopefully we all hear something soon.

Same preliminary review, 11/20. Applying JD/MA though, so I am not expecting a quick decision.
