Applied late 11/12. Got my status check info this morning and logged in. It said I was already under review. I was very surprised. Alabama is my first choice, and my farthest reach. I will probably be held until Spring within the next month unless they like my Public Interest geared softs.

I think you're selling yourself short. I definitely wouldn't call Alabama a reach for you. I wouldn't be surprised at all if you got an initial acceptance, but would be very surprised if you didn't get accepted off the waitlist. That said, all cycles are different.

First signs of significant movement came 11/21 last year and there was a wave the year before on 11/30 so hopefully we'll be seeing the first wave soon.

Just got a call from Marcus Cotton, the assistant director of admissions, asking if I had any questions and letting me know that my application was headed to committee. He said there'd be a decision in the next few weeks. Nice touch, I thought.

Just curious, why is it your number one?

Because I want to live (and practice) in the South, I like several of their clinic options, good reputation, I don't want to spend a fortune on my legal education.

It's not the only place I'm applying to by far, but it's where I want to go providing it works out financially.

I tried to solicit a fee waiver from them, but they said they only give them from CRS searches or if you have an LSAC fee waiver.

I got a fee waiver email today. My numbers are pretty shitty, but I suppose it's worth the 20 bucks for a Hail Mary
