I m in the same boat. Would you mind expanding on what you believe were the drawbacks? I really like some aspects of it like the three 3 required legal writing classes, the class size cap of 45 students and the open-door policy. The library seemed like a serene place too, the perfect place to get work done between classes.tony2167 wrote:Went to the ASD yesterday. Really wanted to like Wake Forest but it's just not for me. Will be withdrawing soon, hope it goes to one of you guys who wants it.
I am comparing to UGA which is a large public law school in a great college town campus which might be too many distractions for me, but less expensive and somewhat better placement record. What other schools are you considering? What did you like/not like about Wake?

Has anyone tried negotiating scholarships at Wake? I'm not sure where to start, and, for them to stay competitive for me, I would need a pretty significant increase... any advice would be much appreciated... never negotiated for schollys, and I assume it is more difficult to get a significant increase.

I am in the same boat. I have been trying, though I have not been successful. My other offers have worked with me to make it much more affordable. From my understanding; you need to have peer or better schools that are giving you better offers, and even there it is still a gray area.InBetweenDays wrote:Has anyone tried negotiating scholarships at Wake? Who did you speak to on the subject? I believe I could be successful in negotiating with peer or better offers, but I need to know where to start. Thanks!

The Office of Admissions, usually the email is admiss@schoolname.eduInBetweenDays wrote:shaynislegend wrote:I am in the same boat. I have been trying, though I have not been successful. They have had more students put down seat deposits than they anticipated, so you may have better luck after the next deposit.shaynislegend wrote:The Office of Admissions, usually the email is admiss@schoolname.eduInBetweenDays wrote:shaynislegend wrote:I am in the same boat. That is a good idea... But I'd like to be committed before next deposit!

Re: Wake Forest c/o 2016
Good question. Wake Forest didn't mention that scenario specifically, but two other schools told me previously that there is more wiggle room with money once they find out who made first deposits at 2 or more schools, then DON'T make the second deposit. Same thing happened with a couple of my friends last year.maxmartin wrote:did they tell you this?RAWR wrote: They have had more students put down seat deposits than they anticipated, so you may have better luck after the next deposit.

Re: Wake Forest c/o 2016
My first post is coming to you all in kind of a panic - I just received an email from the office of admissions asking me to to take a Withdrawal Survey. This would be fine and dandy if I had actually withdrawn but considering I've sent in a seat-deposit (post-marked by the deadline), I'm kiiiinda freaking out. To all you other admits: Did I miss something?? I haven't yet received the admissions packet with the email and all of that, but I did receive financial aid info (which doesn't need to be accepted/denied until July) and, like I said earlier, I sent in my seat deposit. Other than that, I haven't done/received anything else (other than the occasional email from alumni/current students trying to convince me to commit), so again, did I miss a deadline or something??? I'm still waiting on some other schools, but I would really hate to lose my spot AND a scholarship just because I forgot to do something I wasn't even aware needed to be done. I've emailed and called the office of admissions and Dean Shively, but I'm guessing they're out for the day. I'm ASSUMING this is just some sort of clerical error but who knows.
Has this happened to anyone else or am I the only unfortunate soul??

I'm sure you're fine. Just try calling tomorrow morning and I'm sure you can get it straightened out.zazinha wrote:My first post is coming to you all in kind of a panic - I just received an email from the office of admissions asking me to to take a Withdrawal Survey. You're probably just unlucky. Give them a call in the morning to straighten things out. They're quite laid back so I'm sure they'll do their best to work things out.

I'm still in total indecision between Wake and this very cool leadership scholar program at my state school. Anyone feel like swaying me one way or another?
Also - anyone techy care to speculate as to why my messages aren't leaving my TLS outbox? Thanks!

There is a good number that leave for other states, especially those that came here from other places. Places I have heard fellow 2Ls going to are:shaynislegend wrote: Anyone have names for a few of the places that Wake 2L and 3Ls intern at during the summers? Do most stay in NC?
Southern District of New York- intern for a federal judge
Tin, Fulton, Walker and Owen
Forsyth County DA
Greensboro Public Defender
Legal Aid of North Carolina
Moore & Van Allen
Johnston, Alston & Hurd
Alston & Bird
Rogers, Townsend & Thomas
Gallivan, White & Boyd
K & L Gates
4th Circuit Court of Appeals
Pharr Law
As you can see there is a nice mix of government, public interest, big law and mid law.

Also weighting options with my state school... hopefully Wake will open up some more money before the second deposit.InBetweenDays wrote:U marylandshaynislegend wrote:What state school?InBetweenDays wrote:2012Lsatscore wrote:
