The good news is this isn't a rejection, nor a waitlist. They probably will review you for the regular decision pool. Since it's so early in the cycle, they probably want to see what their overall applicant pool is first. Crossing my fingers for you guys!dmgoor01 wrote:Just checked my online status checker and it says "Hold for second review? What does this mean?

Congrats!MsAvocadoPit wrote:Admitted today!! Via status checker. No email sent. I live close, so I should be getting my letter in the mail soon. Wow.
I hope to hear about my application soon. I've been "in committee" since 11/8, and it updated on 11/9 with "in committee" again. At the Open House today, I talked with one of the admissions people, and she said that she has a large stack of applications that she will review on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Hopefully my application gets expedited further.

I think dgmoor was talking about University of San Diego rather than UC Davis.CO2016YEAH wrote:Oh, I missed the question about EA. I have not read or spoken to SC, specifically, about this. However, the general rule of thumb (from the schools I have looked at and talked to on the matter) is that the benefit of EA is simply getting a decision sooner and being able to plan earlier as a result. Of course, there may be an advantage to being part of a smaller applicant pool, but, of course, schools are going to want to keep their numbers higher so I think you are more likely to still be waitlisted if your #'s are soft. I'm merely speculating here, but it might even be possible that you could be flat out rejected at EA if your numbers are soft and the adcom thinks you won't get in; I believe Dean Schwartz at UCLA alluded to this much in his TLS interview. In my opinion the EA might help you at SCU, as I still think your numbers are adequately competitive; remember, more than a third of the admitted class had the same or worse numbers last cycle.
As far as UCD, I think your chances at SCU are more than "slightly" better, meaning I think you stand a good chance at SCU and a slim to (sorry to say it) nil chance at Davis.
Again, bear in mind that everything that I've said is coming from a current law school applicant just like you. None of this is gospel, it's just my take based on what I've read/heard etc.
But still definitely try to retake that is a killer GPA.

Right. We cleared that up in PM. I even knew that so I'm not sure how I got it turned around; musta been thinking about my own apps.onionskin wrote:I think dgmoor was talking about University of San Diego rather than UC Davis.CO2016YEAH wrote:Oh, I missed the question about EA. Hello everyone! I applied Early Action and I found out I was admitted yesterday... I'm still applying to other schools at the moment, but I'm leaning towards SCU for now, since it's so close to home... so I might be seeing some of you in the fall~ Congrats to those who got admitted, and good luck to those who are waiting!

MSAvo and I already talked about this off line, but for the information of the thread....the initial acceptance letter typically comes without scholly info (mine certainly did.) If you look at past cycles they follow up about four weeks later with $$ offers.

MSAvo, thanks! I'm not sure if my acceptance letter arrived yet or not, since I'm currently out of the country. :c But I was wondering if anyone else knew when the seat deposit deadlines are?

I think SCU is just messing with me now...I've been "in committee" since 11/8, and I just now got an email saying my application is complete and has been submitted for review. Does that mean I haven't been under review these past two weeks?

I've been in committee since 11/13. Unlike the other schools I applied to, Seat Deposit comes up under fees even though the amounts due and paid both say 0.00. Does that mean I didn't get in?

Oh that doesn't mean anything. By default it will say 0.00 due/paid while in committee. Last year when it said "decision mailed" and still read 0.00 due, was when you needed to be concerned (waitlist/rejection).tlink1990 wrote:I've been in committee since 11/13. Just to add though -mine never went to "decision mailed," it only went from In Committee then to Admitted (and I didn't miss a beat, I was obsessive with the SCU checker since I did Early Action).

Re: Santa Clara University c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
I don't think it means much, even though I was admitted last Friday, I received the welcome email on Tuesday. And I NEVER received an under review email. I think it may just be an administrative thing/them being slow with the emails.patriots2487 wrote:I think SCU is just messing with me now...I've been "in committee" since 11/8, and I just now got an email saying my application is complete and has been submitted for review. +1000 Definitely loosing it. If Santa Clara is my first acceptance, I'm withdrawing all my other apps. The anxiety is too much!ferrari44 wrote:Current Status Date: 9/25

Okayyyy.... So I applied way after you and have no business freaking out at all. I get that, I really do. Knowing that my anxiety is irrational doesn't help it go away.ferrari44 wrote:When did you apply?wbrother wrote:+1000 Definitely loosing it. Complete: 11/15
In Committee: 11/20
Current Status Date: 11/27 (still in committee, just a random date change designed to attack my insanity.)

Re: Santa Clara University c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
I understand entirely. I'm in the same boat. I applied 10/30, went into committee on 11/8 only for it to update that I was in committee again on 11/9, which made me even more nervous.
On 11/21, I got an email saying my file is now complete and has been submitted for review. No changes since.
I want to hear something soon...I'm a patient person (this is what being an English tutor for three semesters has given me), but this wait is killing me. Hurry up, SCU!!

Admitted today via status checker. No email or phone call yet. I think it changed really late this evening because I checked it around 4pm MST and it still said "in committee." This is exciting I'm from the Bay Area!

Re: Santa Clara University c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
I've seen some charts for other schools illustrating when they make acceptances, waitlists, rejections, etc by date based on previous cycles. Anyone know where I can find one for Santa Clara?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
