Baylor Class of 2016 (2012-2013 cycle)
Surprised to receive an acceptance letter in the mail today! Accepted for Fall 2013 entering class. Also received a $72,000 scholarship as long as i maintain 2.75 gpa. Already have another acceptance so I now have a tough decision to make.
GPA: 3.6

163, 3.81 with $108,000 over 3 years. A little worried about the 2.75 GPA stipulation though. Does anyone know the 1L median GPA at Baylor? I've heard it's extremely low. The letter mention top 75% or so for 2L students and top 85% for 3L students. The lack of info on first year GPA makes me a bit cautious.

I got the same scholarship offer. From the looks of it, I don't think it will be too bad.
All the letter is saying is you have to maintain a 2.75 which means you need to stay in the top 75% of your class (that's what it comes out to roughly with curves). Here is a link to Baylors 2012 class ranks w/ GPA.

My letter was mailed out today but I won't get to see it for a week - I used my parent's address with the LSAC since I'll be living with them for a few months in the Spring. I have a 163 and 3.57 but am not a URM. My guess is that I'll get in with a half-ride at most. Baylor really isn't a good fit for me but I'm a Texan who likes generous scholarships, so I applied.

Might want to withdraw those other apps ASAP before Dook finds out.RG3ismyhomeboy wrote:Just got Scholarship info yesterday, IN with a full ride, 164/3.87 white middle class male

I thought you couldn't start any new apps? I was going to withdraw the apps when the schools respond that way when duke does scholarship I can show what other offers I had (even though it doesn't matter with Ed)
If I am wrong please let me know, don't want to piss off the Duke people.
I had just thought with Ed you couldn't start any new apps, I didn't think there was any harm letting the apps that were already complete go through.
Edit:just found my own answer will have em all withdraw ASAP!

Re: Baylor Class of 2016 (2012-2013 cycle)
I just got a short "Financial Aid Award Notification" from Baylor today, but have not even received an acceptance letter yet. The scholarship letter only asks that I accept or decline, then they list award totals for Fall 2012, Winter 2012, and Spring 2013. Kind of odd because I applied for entry in Spring 2013. Other than that, no stipulations as to if this would continue into later terms or GPA requirements. I am kind of puzzled by this, and thinking that maybe the initial acceptance packet, which hasn't arrived yet, will contain more information. Any ideas or similar experiences?

Re: Baylor Class of 2016 (2012-2013 cycle)
So, they mailed my decision on the 13th but my parents claim they haven't gotten anything yet.
I'm 98% sure that I'm accepted. I went to their website and clicked the "I forgot my ID" button and I have a Baylor ID Number in their system. I can't imagine why I would unless I had been accepted as ID numbers are often included in acceptance letters.
Excited for Tuesday when I can go home for a few days and hopefully get my packet and learn more!
Now, if only I'd hear back from a school that I was more interested in. Baylor is a poor fit for me....
(PS: What are people considering a full-ride? About 15k a quarter?)

I have almost identical numbers and got a scholarship letter too, but nothing else. Did you get a packet of some sort?RG3ismyhomeboy wrote:Just got Scholarship info yesterday, IN with a full ride, 164/3.87 white middle class male

My profile says they mailed the decision letter on the 13th, and I'm in Dallas. I hope it shows up tomorrow. The wait is killing me.

I still haven't gotten my decision letter and I'm in Houston. It was mailed the 13th. I'm really hoping that my acceptance packet and/or my scholarship offer is waiting for me when I get home tomorrow! I'm 98% sure that I got in - even told some people - because I have an ID number in the Baylor system but I'd love to see it in writing!

I checked the mail, and I didn't receive my letter today. (Sigh)
However, I did check the website for a Baylor ID, and I found one. I'm hoping that's a good sign.

Congrats Che! That's outstanding!
Unfortunately, receiving the scholarship offer before the acceptance letter seems to be a trend.

Re: Baylor Class of 2016 (2012-2013 cycle)
Congrats on finally getting your letter! I'm hoping to get mine tomorrow. I'm headed back to college to finish my last semester soon - so I'll have to wait until mid-December to see it (or have my parents forward it to my college address) unless it comes tomorrow! Right now, I'm really strongly leaning towards Texas Tech. Still, it's super-exciting to hear back from any school! Think positive thoughts for my mailbox tomorrow!
