Visit went well today, very nice place, a hop, skip, and a jump from the Mall. Pretty compact, as would be expected. Everyone was extremely nice, especially Josie, the director of admissions. The class I attended was pretty good. I had a very good impression after all of it, they even gave me the packet they would have given to me had I been able to attend ASW.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the costs (I don't have scholly info yet), I would be basically sold, but the cost is what's holding me back. What was really nice to hear from the financial aid director in regards to employment. She says that she's seen less students coming in worried about employment than in the past few years. That's really good to hear. She was pretty honest about everything else, so I figured it was a fair statement.

My thought:

less people worried about employment --> less people worried about debt --> more people on scholarships/having school paid for (by themselves, parents, employers, etc.)

I think that because the employment prospects are so terrible, many people who were taking out big loans to go to law school, and therefore worried about employment to pay those back, aren't going anymore because they can't handle it financially. because of this, many of the people who are less worried about paying back loans, and therefore less worried about employment, are the ones going, especially to the schools with the higher COA like GWU.

let me know if that didn't make sense, I tried to cover all the bases. That is all just speculation though and could be completely false

Yeah, my dad went with me. He shared my concerns about debt, but, overall, we both came away with a highly favorable opinion.

This makes perfect sense.
Also, I wouldn't take what someone from FA says about legal employment (even if he/she is the director). If you heard that from the director of career services, that'd be a different story, at least for me.

That's a pretty good point.

Still, it was good to hear some slightly more upbeat stuff. Still, like I said, no way on Earth I'd attend at sticker price. Just way too expensive.

I think the bigger point here is that I really don't think you would hear that from the director of career services. Glad you liked it!

Good to hear :) will be getting in tmw and I'm really excited. Also for those of you who are interested, I emailed two profs whose work I was interested in and they were both incredibly recpetive and kind so I'm meeting with them both. Just a thought if you'll be in the area.

Just did the same, hopefully they'll be kind enough to help us out.
Hey guys, long-time lurker here. I was wondering if anyone was successful in getting an extension?

I asked and was politely denied.

We agree.

I've been told by a couple folks to send additional documents by snail mail because it will ensure that it will be placed in my file.

I'll just call as a follow up tomorrow to make sure they received it.

The advantage of sending it via email is you get a confirmation that its in your file 20 minutes later.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
