Re: George Washington c/o 2016
Yes, I just requested to defer for one year to work and they accepted it. I wasn't on WL, but I don't see why that would matter. As a side note, apparently scholarships don't defer along with admissions - I had to put in a separate request to keep my scholarship. They are still giving me a scholarship with the deferral, but it is less than what I got originally.dawnrose wrote:I just got in off of the waitlist on Monday - super excited. However, I just got promoted at work recently, and my plan is to work an additional year before starting law school. Does anyone know if GW offers deferrals, and if so, if they offer them to people on the waitlist?
Hope this helps, I would email them ASAP since they asked me to respond by May 10 about the deferral.

Normally she would reply the very next day saying she will think about it. Then a few days later she will come back with offers.BitterSplitter wrote:How long did dean sims take to reply to your scholarship negotiation emails? I sent mine late Friday afternoon so I'm worried she might have missed it
At least that is what happened on my case.

Email 5 days later saying they'll think about it, then email 2 weeks later with decision...but thus was in march so I'm sure they'll be faster. Btw jing- Congrats on your offer and grant! Have u decided on GW now? Pm if not public.BitterSplitter wrote:How long did dean sims take to reply to your scholarship negotiation emails? I called the admissions office today to inquire about my FASFA aid possibility, and they said they sent me an email last week with my financial package? I definitely did not get an email, and they said they would resend one. Still no email???? =/

check your gweb account, the package will be listed there. Also make sure you check your spam folder, my acceptance letter ended up there.grassynome wrote:I called the admissions office today to inquire about my FASFA aid possibility, and they said they sent me an email last week with my financial package? Did everyone get the email moving the 2nd deposit deadline up to the 20th?

I got one but it said 31st. I wonder why they would push it up like that for you? Are you double deposited ( didn't think try could see double deposits until may 15th though)Belgorn wrote:Did everyone get the email moving the 2nd deposit deadline up to the 20th?

Not double deposited or WL/admit. I got the one for the 31st then an hour later one saying "oops, we mean the 20th." I did get a scholarship increase so I'm guessing they want to know earlier whether that money is staying or going.cbarlow1016 wrote:I also got one that said the 31st. Had to withdraw, and super bummed I couldn't relocate to DC. I hope a TLSer gets the spot, though. Good luck, people on the waitlist!

Hey fellow WL'ers!
I called the admissions office just to see when/if we should hear from them anytime soon. The response I got was that they will look at the WL after the second payment is due (May 31st) and then probably let us know in early June.
Cheers.

I was kinda thinking that the 2nd deposit date will be the key aspect for the WL. From the TLS action it looks like they will have to give out some seats off the WL to fill up the really big class

I wonder how much of an impact double depositors have on this. I know it's a common practice, and I'm not one to criticize but if I have any chance of acceptance by GW, I'd rather it be sooner than later

Just paid the last portion of my second deposit.
Now all I've got to do is come up with the other 52,610 for the first year.
