Re: UC Irvine c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
From Chem:
On Friday, we reached a milestone: every member of the Class of 2012 is employed in a full-time law job or is enrolled in full-time post-graduate study. You might have seen a report in the National Law Journal last week that ranked us 11th in the nation among law schools in terms of employment for the Class of 2012. That study was based on the data every law school provided to the American Bar Association for employment nine months after graduation. At the time, by the ABA standards, we still had four students looking for employment and two who were enrolled in full-time graduate level study. Three of the four students found employment very soon after the ABA cutoff. On Friday, the remaining student accepted a federal district court clerkship. Even before this, the National Law Journal ranked us second only to Yale in the percentage of students from the Class of 2012 who are clerking this year. Of the 56 students who graduated in May 2012, a total of 21 accepted judicial clerkships (20 in federal courts and 1 in a state court) and four have two clerkships, so we have 25 clerkships among the 56 graduates

Absolutely. This is really a petty issue.prāna wrote:interesting but doesn't change much. print journalism has ethics? media can be bought? not really news, you know. I don't fault UCI (or any other school) that would pay to have a more widely circulated newsletter. The burden/fault is on the new media willing to accept this.boblawlob wrote:I like UCI but there's this:prāna wrote:OC Register on UCI: --LinkRemoved--

for me, this doesn't make me like UCI any less

If anyone on the WL has heard back, can you let us know how you heard (email, mail, phone call etc.)?

If you contacted them, they would have politely told you. They don't know when waitlists will be used, they expect mid-June or later.
Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

yeah, i know...WHAT.happens.LARRY wrote:If you contacted them, they would have politely told you. They don't know when waitlists will be used, they expect mid-June or later.
but most schools have orientations in early Aug
so a notification in mid-June or later would make things haste...

Your statement gives the impression that schools care about our situation of being on the waitlists. They don't care if we get admitted last minute and it causes the applicant to scramble and panic about whether they should accept the admissions in late August. They only want to to fill their seat and pay them the 25k for semester 1. In a perfect world, oh how wonderful would it be for all applicants on waitlists to hear back in May.

I am also WL--I spoke to someone VERY close to the admin (founder) and they said they will not dip into the WL this year..
Take it with a grain of salt. Good luck everyone! Those who want to go to UCI, REALLY want to go to UCI and I know the feeling.
