Nope. I sent an email to the office on Friday asking to confirm the acceptance and still haven't heard anything back. Frankly, it's pretty off-putting considering every other school has either called, emailed, or overnighted something to me. Even Northwestern sent me an email when they rejected me: Houston can't manage one for accepted students? It really makes me want to drop the school from primary consideration.aep1989 wrote:I was accepted a week ago and still haven't received an email or any updates under mailings on the status checker. Has anyone recently admitted receive any contact at all?

Not sure what's up with Houston, but this is a pretty poor way of enticing students to muster any interest.Ramble On wrote:I was accepted on 1/16 and didn't get the letter until 2/1

Yeah. And they're taking forever to release decisions.nba101790 wrote:Not sure what's up with Houston, but this is a pretty poor way of enticing students to muster any interest.Ramble On wrote:I was accepted on 1/16 and didn't get the letter until 2/1

Indeed. I've literally been in review since 12/4. Not sure if I should send an LOCI to speed this up or just suffer through. On LSN people who applied later have gotten decisions but alot of the ED applicants haven't heard back yet, which is so odd and infuriating. What was the point in applying ED then?JXander wrote:Yeah. What are your numbers? My theory is that they don't want to accept anyone with a score 160.potterpirate04 wrote:Indeed. I've literally been in review since 12/4. Nope. Including some info in my personal statement about courses/concentrations I intended to follow specific to Houston, but it wasn't very tailored.
Also, adding to my above frustration: Maybe it's just me, but I'm probably going to withdraw from Houston next week because of their approach to admitted students. Granted, I've only been admitted to two other schools so far, but both of them have emailed and called multiple times in the preceding days. Houston wasn't high on my list to begin with and they're doing nothing to warrant a second look.

nba- That's weird that they haven't been timely with their e-mails. My only guess is that with your stats they knew you were a shoe-in (so immediately updated), and that the only debate/delay is how much scholarship money to offer.

Ellie, I'm sure I'm being overly sensitive, it's just a big contrast.elliephant wrote:nba- That's weird that they haven't been timely with their e-mails. Now that I'm thinking about Houston though, for anyone who knows, do most students live on campus, in downtown Houston, or elsewhere?

My numbers aren't exactly up to par with Houston's, so I understand the wait. It's just that people with numbers right around mine have heard back already, and they've either been waitlisted or rejected, and they didn't even apply ED. The hold-up is just frustrating. My date hasn't even been updated in more than 2 months.JXander wrote: What are your numbers? My theory is that they don't want to accept anyone with a score 160.

There is no on campus living for UH law, I know that for sure.nba101790 wrote:Now that I'm thinking about Houston though, for anyone who knows, do most students live on campus, in downtown Houston, or elsewhere?

Yes there is - Calhoun Lofts, its just incredibly expensive, but its right across the parking lot from the law school and parking is a huge issue here. Most students live off campus.potterpirate04 wrote:There is no on campus living for UH law, I know that for sure.nba101790 wrote:Now that I'm thinking about Houston though, for anyone who knows, do most students live on campus, in downtown Houston, or elsewhere?

Wow I never knew that. I thought they only used those places for undergrads. Yeah, I did a phone questionnaire with them, and they said some 1Ls stay on campus because it's cheaper and closer for those who aren't used to H-town.mtyler19 wrote:Yes there is - Calhoun Lofts, its just incredibly expensive, but its right across the parking lot from the law school and parking is a huge issue here. I know everyone is frustrated with the promptness of the answers. Do not email admissions email someone within the office directly. They will answer very quickly, Nathan answers minutes later. Call first ask questions they are very helpful. I was admitted with a 160 3.3. Nothing out if the ordinary in my application package. Good LORs and good PS. Look at last years thread to find out about areas to live. It is very helpful. I am stayin a couple of extra days after ASD to go apartment hunting.

I got waitlisted a few days ago.
Anyone know when is the best time to send in a LOCI?
Those of you that have been admitted already....congratulations!

Don't live there. You will enjoy your life in Houston a lot more if you live elsewhere.potterpirate04 wrote:Wow I never knew that. I thought they only used those places for undergrads. And by no means is it a lot cheaper than other places to live in Houston.

It was back in December so I'm not exactly sure, but I think around a week or two. It was listed in the "mailings" section of on the status checker page.JXander wrote:Awesome, thanks. ETA: I just looked at the page, and it looks like they mailed it out about 2 days after the status checker updated to "admitted."
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
