Re: Notre Dame Class of 2016 Applicants
Just received their WL update e-mail. So far they're the only school that has followed through with these--at least for me. Major points.

Anyone else slightly irritated at being told to give a date past which you do not want to remain on the waitlist?

Re: Notre Dame Class of 2016 Applicants
I thought it was nice to have this option - the school I am going to in the case I do not get off the waitlist has pretty big seat deposits; I'm ok with losing one, but not both because that would be a hefty sum, so I entered the date of the second seat deposit for that school.Ktr007 wrote:Anyone else slightly irritated at being told to give a date past which you do not want to remain on the waitlist?

Also just received the WL email. To me it seems as though the next few days will see significant movement as far as acceptances go based on the statement that they would like to fill the class within that time span.

"As the class become full, we will remove candidates from the waitlist."
In other words, they'll reject you off the waitlist??

Re: Notre Dame Class of 2016 Applicants
I found it slightly irritating because I want to hold out as long as possible, but I do not know how long that will be. At some point my backup school could require me to withdraw and at some point housing will become an issue. Without giving any other details of myself away my backup school has limited housing availability around it and could fill anywhere between late June to early August. I respect that they want to have a good idea of people wanting to still come, but asking me for a hard date was/is hard for me to nail down.TripTrip wrote:Why is that irritating?Ktr007 wrote:Anyone else slightly irritated at being told to give a date past which you do not want to remain on the waitlist?

Same, probably just the update of our intention to stay on the waitlist.Xs20 wrote:Status checker just updated to today, been on the waitlist since November.

Just when you thought you were done with status checker! My date changed too. I'm too fatigued to be checking it as obsessively as I was earlier in the cycle.

In off the WL via phone call, $75k scholarship. I have a significantly higher offer from a peer school so I'll probably be withdrawing.

I just got off of the WL today and offered 25K too. I got full ride from Minnesota so now it is really hard to decide. They are peer schools but Notre Dame has a better employment rate.Xs20 wrote:Two weeks.gatorgirl2012 wrote:And thus it begins!

I already put 750$ seat deposit to Minnesota, I even paid my apartment deposit already.
Anyone any suggestions?

ND's slightly better placement becomes less of an incentive when you consider how much career flexibility you'll have coming out of UMN with no debt...and also, i dunno how apartment deposits work if you try and withdraw, especially if you have roommates alreadyjing87 wrote:I just got off of the WL today and offered 25K too. 750$ seat deposit and 800$ apartment deposit (I rent an apartment by myself), none of them will be refundable. I checked law school transparency,it seems Notre Dame has good big law firm placement rate .cusenation wrote:ND's slightly better placement becomes less of an incentive when you consider how much career flexibility you'll have coming out of UMN with no debt...and also, i dunno how apartment deposits work if you try and withdraw, especially if you have roommates alreadyjing87 wrote:I just got off of the WL today and offered 25K too. I mean if you're okay with writing off the $800 apt deposit and if you really want BigLaw then you should deposit at ND and try and negotiate as much as you can out of them. Ultimately it'll come down to how badly you want/need BigLawjing87 wrote:

I sent in an update/LOCI a few months ago, was waitlisted since November. Honestly I just can't justify paying $45,000 more to go to ND instead of WUSTL.
